If he pats me on the back, I'll put on my resume - in the next life.

Here's to the most interesting coach in the world "

Les Miles drives me fricking batty. I don't think he's the best coach in CFB, but the SOB wins games. It is what it is.

I think they both helped each other out tremendously. He brought LSU football to another level. All the nice shiny facilities we have are because of Saban.

While LSU certainly helped Saban, I'd say he helped LSU just as much.

You are entitled to your opinion. No problem with that.

But my response to your opinion.

ETA: My opinion, Les Miles is damn good football coach, but just not the best.

Wins games...no argument...and yet he hasn't won the West the last 3 years. Lots of success, but with its share of disappointment.

That is because we play in the toughest division/conference in the Nation. Les is the Best fit. He definitely wins, recruits well and is the Best fit for his University. What Coach wins the division or Conference every year? He is consistent and wins and makes us relevant. He is goofy, funny and likeable and keeps us in the media with his quirks, just enjoy!

If you go 14-10 in 3 years in the SEC and get shut out of your conference championship 3 years in a row does that qualify you as the best coach in college football? Meanwhile in that same 3 years Saban goes 21-3 (SEC regular season) and wins 2 out of 3 West Titles. I wouldn't say Les is the best coach in his own 6 team division let alone all of college football. If you want to make an argument Les is the best coach for LSU I might agree with you. As one person in this thread says if he goes undefeated this year then Les has an argument. I agree but Les has never had less than a 2 loss season in his career. Let's see how this season goes before we crown him king of college football.

Swat, how can you laugh about Petrino when he has a winning record against your team and coach? Of course I think Petrino is a better coach but I wouldn't laugh at the mention of Miles being better.

Winner.

Les fits exceptionally well with LSU. He would probably do great at USC as well. I do not think he would be a great fit at Alabama or Notre Dame though. Miles is a more relaxed coach than most programs can afford to have. It works at LSU, despite a finicky fan base, but it would not translate well at most schools IMO. On the other hand, guys Saban rule their programs with more of an iron fist, and I believe that has more universal appeal at CFB programs.

Think of Les as a round peg and Saban as a square peg. Les would do well at all the programs with a round hole, but not so much at the ones with a square hole. Saban would do well at the programs with a square hole, and he would force the programs with a round hole to get out a Sawzall and adapt to his style.

I agree. Bama will struggle this year with new qbs. They still may ein 10-11 games but they arent gonna dominate like in 08 and 09.
