Not disputing it. He has done a bad job getting this team into game shape this year. He didn't suddenly become John L Smith, though. That's what I'm saying.

I personally think this soft schedule has been bad for the whole program, including Miles. It let's him go into his little comfort shell and get away with it.

I don't dispute this overall, and usually share this disdain.

But a lot of people (me included) just want to see this team that we love so much play to its potential and get frustrated with penalties, turnovers and lackluster performances.

Since message board fans make such a huge impact on the field.

How? What coaching mistakes did he make today?

He didn't fumble 5 times and didn't allow Towson to rush for 188yds. All he did this week was pass more to get Mett more exp. and change the OL starters which everyone was screaming for.

Again, in what way was Miles lousy today?

"He didn't get the team ready to play, because they lacked intensity" isn't a reason or proof. I hihgly doubt he did anything differently in the last two weeks than he has always done. Also, when you have superior talent, you shouldn't need to be motivated to do your job on the field correctly.

The poor performance on the field the past 2 weeks is on the players, not the coaches. The coaches have actually made adjustments.

Watching UT OSU and hearing the stadium roar reminded me what it used to be like when LSU was't a perpetual top 10 team. I actually found myself missing the enthusiam LSU fans had back then when even the POSSIABILITY of winning sent us into a frenzy of extacy...and its seriously fricked up now that we win so much it isn't fun anymore

Unfortunately, he's pretty much spot on.

We rival Bama fans in that respect.

frick you, man. i'm a neutral on miles, for the most part, but seriously. this was TOWSON, goddammit. lets get real. that was fricking clownshoes retarded bullshite.

Look. I'm not excusing tonight. It was bad. Coaches, players, everyone. It sucked. But, at the same time, there has been a crap ton of winning at LSU over the last three years. Those two don't equal an entirely braindead staff. If they were, we would have lost to Washington, who looked like a descent team on Thursday night against a good opponent.

However, you are right. Tonight was inexcusable. The team that absolutely took UW to the shed for four quarters and made their QB want to cry should have showed up in Tiger Stadium tonight, even if just for a quarter or two. That's all it would have taken.

For perspective, do you happen to remember LSU starting its 2003 season with a very uninspiring and sloppy win over ULM? Remember the UF brook trout look? To a team that went like 8-5? Remember them having to force a late turnover to beat LA Tech a few years later. Who was the coach then? Saban is a great coach, and games like that still happened. They happen under Miles, too. They didn't happen last year, but they have the last two weeks. Again, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Can't blame anyone for that, especially after tonight. I did my share of cursing at the TV. It's just so miserable reading all of the people on here sway back and forth with the current wind. Seasons come and go, and teams go up and down. You don't win in the SEC if your coach sucks. Perspective.

I'll take a crack at that statement: Miles doesn't call plays that are meant to fumble the ball. Miles doesn't tell the QB to miss open receivers badly (and they've made some great one-handed catches or the numbers would be worse). Miles doesn't tell WRs to drop balls that hit them in the numbers, either.

Pretty sure that involves the players on the field being a little more focused on the play at hand. If those things weren't to have happened, we win comfortably at Auburn last week, and much bigger tonight.

How much of that focus/lack thereof is on Miles, and how much is on the players themselves, we really don't know. We do know there have been other players under Miles (and other games with these same players), where there was much more focus displayed.

Now, the odd thing is that lack of focus seemed to appear last january, a month after the entire world touted the team as potential greatest ever. It seems to have carried over this season, and the common denominator is the media crowning the team as the best (ok, behind Bama once our most visible player got kicked off, but since that game is here, it's still right in their lap).

We've lost the media love now. Curious to see if the team collapses, or plays like it's embarrassed and angry.

I went back and looked up the stats because I remember something being off about that game. It was 0-0 until halfway through the 2nd quarter. The team looked like they were sleepwalking, and this was back when ULM was REALLY, REALLY bad. Then the Tigers woke up. There was a lightning delay, and a great team came out really flat. To their credit, however, they did wake up.

Also, it was Troy, not LA Tech that we struggled against in 04. Forgot in my attempt to type fast.

"Look, You don't go 13-0 and win on the road against Saban in Tuscaloosa unless you can't coach."

This doesn't go with the rest of your ideas. I would think it would be:
"Look, You don't go 13-0 and win on the road against Saban in Tuscaloosa unless you CAN coach."
This is indeed how I feel.
