Really hoping this is the Last year we have to depend on building depth using the transfer portal. Last year the transfer portal was really a must . This year it should still be used but next year hoping the thin postions are filled with top notch recruits not transferring players.

We have like six running backs. I think we are good there.

We just added three DLs in the portal

RB is fine

LB and CB are the main concerns. Hopefully reinforcements coming in the portal

I think the staff is going to add more DL in the transfer portal as well as DB. I do think our DB room has more talent than we are giving them credit for, but if we add Harris and possibly Cypress from Virginia with the freshman class coming in, it could turn into a real strength

We don’t have a homerun threat and we don’t have a bell cow. RB isn’t a hole like other positions but if a big time RB wants in via the portal I think we could oblige.

A healthy Armoni Goodwin is a very good back

1 year doesn’t fix the recovery period of O’s regime and 39 scholarship players 13 months ago. We were always going to be a 2-3 rebuild. It just so happened we won 9/10 games in the first year. Which is incredible coaching BTW.

We need for the 2023 season
1 Defensive Tackle (Best portal guy that comes available)
1 EDGE (Clayton Smith)
1 Middle Line backer (Best portal MLB that pops in already missed on Flowe and Cobb)
3 Cornerbacks (Harris, Cypress, CB from Southeastern)
1 Safety (Jalen Catalon type)
1 Center (Jake Renfro)

We have to land big impact guys on defense if we want to contend in 2023. All 11 starters back on offense. Lets grab a Center and then hammer the portal heavy for guys on defense

Okay you have Smith, Wingo and Guillory at DT for next year as well as the transfer from Florida. You also just signed Womack and Howard as EDGE rushers to add with Wiggins and Savion Jones. Definitely need a MLB and one more CB. But you safeties are very deep, considering you signed 3 and are returning Burns and Brooks seeming to return with his Covid year eligibility. Toviano can likely come in and start at CB for you and we still have Sevyn Banks who has been rattled by injuries his whole career, but was a 5 star talent coming out of HS.

Edit: forgot we also added EDGEs from Oregon and Arizona for depth purposes. Womack is a day 1 starter and Wiggins is going to wreck havoc the next 2 years

Did you know there is a thing called the transfer portal? Did you also know that Kelly said he will announce a slew of transfers, Friday? Do you think Kelly knows where the team is "thin"?

Praying Harris and Cypress are coming and you lock down the DB room for the year, regardless of what Ricks does.

We signed a monster DB class.... 6 DBs. One 5 star and three 4 stars and two high 3 stars.

We’re not thin at LB or RB.

After Friday we likely won’t be thin at DL. We might not have the best depth but we’ll have top flight starters and serviceable depth.

Gotta get Harris and at least more guy at CB through the portal.

It’s not near as dire as some of you want to believe.

Guess your reading comprehension skills are not that good. My point being we need big impact players from recruiting classes like last years players: Campbell, Perkins, etc... that will be here for 3 years or more. That are immediate impact players. How many of those types are coming out of the portal? Portal is mostly for adding depth not starting postions at SEC level.
