CJ averaged 30 ppg and was first team AA both his years at LSU, nor did he go through a "freshman slump." Can't say that about TW. Glad to have TW though.

Chris did not make everyone around him better. Waters does.
CJ was best scorer since the Pistol, no doubt. But Waters has overall better game. Fact.

CJ took a team picked to finish last in the SEC with a 7 man rotation and brought them to a 20-12 record and NCAA tourney appearance so not only did he make those around him better he had the ability to carry a team to the NCAA tourney. Something Waters could not do that’s a fact what you said is pure subjective nonsense.

So by your logic because Trae Young is a better all around player than Pistol Pete because he averaged more assists per game? Get back to me when you learn what a fact is or when you get out of rehab.

Toris Bright was underrated. He's not as good as Tremont but he was solid.

Thank you! Waters is a great player, but he is no CJ. I will state my case for CJ by saying this, if CJ had played on this team, they would have won 20 games and made the NCAA tournament.

Exactly, think about who Jackson had on that first team. Besides Blanton you had Grant as your only other perimeter scorer and he couldn’t play defense, the only other 2 guys who could play at all were Vernell who was a 6-7 freshman center that season and Sims who had 15-18 foot range, that’s it. You put waters on that team and there’s noway he averages 5.9 assist per game or comes close to making the dance. Waters averaged a whopping 2 more assists than CJ and CJ doubled Waters ppg so how does that trade off favor Waters? Nobody on this planet involved in basketball is going to take (15.9ppg 5.9apg) over (30.2ppg 3.6apg). And it’s not like CJ couldnt pass, he averaged 6.8apg his last season in Denver. This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about and probly never saw CJ play, If CJ were on this years team wedve been in the NCAA tourney and been a top 4/5 SEC team without a doubt. If people thought this years defense was bad go watch that teams defense give up 80+ every night on YouTube. I love Waters but CJ was just on a different level, in the 30 years since he was a freshman 1 player at a power 5 school has scored at the level he did that season, 1 in all of college basketball of all the superstars who’ve played since then (Glen “Big Dog” Robinson). When Waters is drafted 3rd overall in the NBA draft then that guy can come talk to me about who was better, when Waters is a two time All-American and two time SEC player of the year he can compare him to CJ. This is one of the dummest things anyone has ever tried to push on the Rant and that’s saying something.

You can't really compare one generation to the next. Chris was the most explosive offensively but IMO he had better talent around him and the SEC was much weaker in those days. How many conference teams made the playoff during Chris' tenure. CJ made many unbelievable plays during his day but none were any more spectacular than Waters shot vs Texas A&M. Waters made a couple more unbelievable shots that either won the game took into overtime with a chance to win.
Lets see if Waters, with similar talent next year, as Chris had his Sophomore year, can take us further.

You might have missed that CJ had Shaq and Stanley Roberts his last year.... I loved CJ, just think Waters sees the floor better, can create his own shot, etc.

PS...Waters can also distribute the ball light years better than Jackson could.

I saw Jackson play Mudking, wise up. Of course Jackson wins the scoring debate as I said, no question. And we're talking about his LSU career, not the pros.

Doesn’t matter what team he played for, your quote was “Jackson can shoot that’s it”, that’s a skill set critique not a particular team production comment and it’s heen proven false. You also said Jackson couldn’t raise the level of his teams play which was also false, he took a team with less talent to the NCAA tourney his freshman year. You said Waters is a better all around player which is also false, Jackson was a top 3 pick a 2x first team All-American and 2x SEC POTY, FYI you don’t achieve those things if you’re a specialty player. Waters has an outside chance at achieving 1 SEC POTY award and All-American team but it’s highly unlikely he’ll ever get either and even if he did it would still fall short of what CJ accomplished in 2 years here. Your assessment is subjective and ignorant these are two totally different levels of player, CJ is a top 3 draft pick and Waters is a bottom half first rounder second round type player but isn’t even a lottery pick level player. In case you aren’t “wise” enough to know what that means it means that CJ is a better all around player and by a wide margin.

Lmfao, No one could create their own shot better than CJ and you think Waters is better at it than he was? You have no clue what you’re talking about and now I know you never saw him play so you’re dishonest too. P.S. no he doesn’t distribute the ball lightyears better than CJ, Waters averaged 5.9apg in college CJ averaged 6.8apg in the NBA, you’re an idiot.
