If the roles had been reversed, There would be people on here (perhaps even yourself) excited as hell over a LSU defensive player getting a hit like that on an opposing player.

bullshite. Those plays aren’t celebrated anymore and haven’t been for some time.

He didn’t need to blow him up to prevent him making a play. He tried to blow him up, and definitely should have been penalized as it was a dangerous play.

I almost can’t watch football anymore cause of the refs and the damned ever changing rules. The idea that a defensive player launches himself at and blindsides a QB with the obvious intent to cause injury is not ejected but a safety just trying to make a legit football play is ejected is pure insanity.

Had LSU done it The flag would have come out immediately as unnecessary roughness and the play would have been called back. UCF ball with a 15 yard penalty from the spot

Maybe 10 years ago, but not today. Things have changed and the long term future of football is in doubt because of shite like this. That kind of hit is exactly what the NCAA is tying to get out of the game to prevent head injuries. They just need clearer and better rules to address it.

It definitely could have been called targeting

I don't disagree, I just believe it was a good non call.

The Delpit call was bullshite but textbook because the rule is absurd.

I know we're sensitive to targeting because of White, but his BS shouldn't mean we want all calla to be targeting against us.

don't think I've been as mad about a penalty no-call, since a game vs Auburn in 2007 where two offensive linemen chopblocked Glen Dorsey. He was never the same after that injury.
frick Chad Ramsey and Auburn too while your at it.

What did you want him to do, target the ref?

I know they hit on the way down, but I thought the big helmet to chin hit was on the whiplash. Burrow's head goes forward once the shoulders hit, and 91 has a helmet there to meet him, unfortunately.

Famous Non-Calls: Reuben Foster

This put Fournette out for 5 weeks: CTE, he has had too many hits

So you posting a GIF, were you supposed to prove me right? 91’s helmet hit above Burrow’s shoulder. Obviously

After he clearly led with his shoulder in Burrow armpit. The helmet hitting after the whiplash isn't usually going to draw the flag.

After a change of possession such as in the case of a turnover.

QBs are protected because it’s a perfect opportunity for an opponent to intentionally deliver a big hit on a key offensive player under the guise of “blocking”. The reason QBs are ALWAYS “defenseless” is literally to protect them from hits just like this one.

Targeting is the worst rule in sports. It’s never called correctly

First of all he technically launched or burrow would not have fell the way he did.

But to address your shoulder to the armpit statement: You can lead with the shoulder and still target. Helmet to helmet is not the only time targeting occurs. In fact, the reason the rule is so terrible is because now they mistakenly call every helmet to helmet contact targeting. In actuality, most helmet to helmet contact is not targeting.

My ears are bleeding listening to the announcers in this game.

Their most important jobs should be:

1. to know which teams are playing in the game, says UFC.

2. to know how to pronounce player names, says Michael "Davinty" Jr.
