Several years ago, my husband and I went to the OM game where we beat them soundly. I was invited by my Ole Miss cousin to her cousin's tailgate after the game. Her cousin was a former Reb and played in the NFL. As we walked into his tent, a drunk OM student and his drunk OM date begin cursing me (I'm old enough to be his Mother), and telling me to get my arse out of the tent and why was I there; I wasn't welcome, etc. I'd never been treated that rudely. I told him that I was related to the host and I'd just go get him to explain that I was invited. He shut up quick and stumbled away quietly. The Grove is so overrated, it's ridiculous. We were told to squat behind a food table to pour ourselves a drink or the cops would stop us. Your ice chests better be locked before you leave for the game or the cops pour everything out. Everybody's tents are on top of each other. Horrible.

bullshite. Ole Miss people have been nothing but nice to me, and I've made that trip almost every time since 2011.

I find that there is a lot about Oxford that is fake. The southern hospitality shtick is just that, a shtick in an attempt to be charming. The people there have this pseudo elitist thing going on as though it’s a social class above when meanwhile if you break it down, you’re talking about a bunch of middle class people in rural Mississippi.

And the whole “Ole Miss is a football power” thing is fake as well.

This was exactly how my experience went. Insane cops, everybody crowded together, no open flames allowed. The chandelier thing is stupid as hell. Won’t likely ever go back to a game there

Thank you!
When I started reading this thread, I thought damn, I’ve never seen this kind of behavior, but for a few way too drunk asshats (but everybody has those).
Then I read a couple of posts saying the coeds at Ole Miss are over rated. That’s when I knew this thread is loaded with BS.

You’re exactly right.

The OPD actually tortured him to death. Sad story all around

I find it hard to believe also. We pregamed there 2 years ago with no issues. I always stop in when I'm up there. They gave us a couple of rounds on the house actually.

My adult son and I went to a game a few years back. Oxford is cute, quaint but that’s it. The Grove…highly overrated! No open flames…food all catered in…everybody stacked one top of one another. The female talent, while nice, is no better than what I see on campus on game day. Glad we went but no need to go back.

Trashy place. I'll never go back.

This is why we throw piss balloons at them. I normally drink some asparagus juice beforehand to make the piss especially fragrant.

We went in ‘07, so maybe it has changed, but a few lessons we learned the hard way:
-No open flames on campus. Got super lucky on this one, no cops found us grilling, but some snooty ole miss fans were happy to tell us as they walked by.
-Lock your cooler. Yes, the cops will literally open your cooler and take your beer/alcohol if you are in P&G.
-Be careful filling your cup. You gotta be sneaky.
-There is zero space in the grove and the tents are literally on top of each other. I got yelled at by another snooty ole miss fan after I didn’t realize where our catered food ended and theirs started and was eating their food.

Overrated “tailgating” experience, but the scenery is excellent. I did also enjoy Oxford, nice college town.

Only if it's unattended. Which is a stupid arse rule, for sure.

What are you talking about?

I went every year from roughly 1996 to 2010 that it was in Oxford. We had some great times. The cops are fricking retarded though. I’ve seen 60 year old men have to empty ice chests, some friends arrested for jaywalking in 2003 after the game, etc.

I know the LSU pimps get shite on here, but when they rolled up in 2007 the looks on Ole Miss fans faces were priceless.

OMG you must be so smart and successful. If you haven’t been to Oxford you don’t know how awful their police are. I stand by my original story. EXECUTED. FOR. OPEN. CONTAINER.
