Seems like a bad evaluation of talent.

Actually, I think the opposite.

We grabbed guys that performed well in mid-majors i.e. "baseball players" and didn't factor in metrics enough.

This team is constructed pretty weird in that the lineup doesn't really complement each other. Reminds me of Skip's merry band of mercenaries that he put together in 2001 in hopes of a grand last hurrah.

Yes, definitely starting with Yorke. Yea he was a feel good story at first but that has completely worn off. He’s been more of a nuisance than a help recently.

I think you can sit some guys like Yorke, Arrambide, etc to at least try and send them a message

What message?
Are they not working? Are they not listening to instruction? Is there someone on the bench that has proven to give a better product on the field? Outside of brown and Curiel, nobody is hitting.
Let’s sit arrambide and bring in Serena and his .200 batting average. Maybe put Pearson back at 1st and let Yorke sit.

jay "Paul mainieri" Johnson

Paul Mainieri was like Les Miles and Ed Orgeron, they were satisfied when they got their rings, Jay Johnson is like Nick Saban and Kim Mulkey, he will never be satisfied with the last ring.

Who doesn't have it? Are you referencing the best college coach in the game?

Has to be a position player, and preferably one of the stars.

Maybe this team does have leaders, but it’s taking players longer to buy into the system. Jay has mentioned numerous times this teams leadership is one of the best he’s ever had. Baseball is a game you have to play with confidence and a chip on your shoulder. Failure will happen, and players need to learn how to handle it. Someone “leader” yelling and cussing to motivate a player is not what’s going to work in the dugout or behind closed doors. Leading by example is what will get the players to buy into the team philosophy. Some of these players need to learn how to adjust when shite doesn’t go their way. If they can’t adjust, next man up.Can it be corrected, sure, will it, let’s find out.
