It really is starting to look like JL becoming a bust. He's been here for 3 yrs and I still get nervous every time he drops back. JJ has been here for 2 yrs and shows some signs of progress.

No Pryor is about even with Lee on accuracy but Pryor can run really well and picks up alot of first downs with his feet. Lee is immobile to put it lightly

Judging someones entire season off of 1 game is stupid.

because he sucked last year, didn't get any better, and sucks again this year?

+1
If JL can't even come close to resembling something of a game manager, then that's not good. When will he ever become a threat to scramble when protection breaks down? When will he make more accurate throws? This is not looking good for JL.

how is he a bust? He was thrown in lsat year when he was not ready at all. People expected way to much. He has gotten no experience this year, but some people still expect him to come in and light it up

It's funny that you find a way to jusify JL shortcomings but HATE on JJ. Dude is JL is your BFF? if not He SUCKS-- just like the Booty, Loup, Howard's--these are our famous White Overhyped captain save a tiger qbacks. We are going to go thru this same shite next year with Garett

While J. Lee has not played well this year, maybe as bad or worse than last year, there is no room here for your hating. LSU has had good quarterbacks and bad quarterbacks, black and white over the years. There is no call for those kind of comments.

I think JL will be really good at Sam Houston State next year.

We recruited several big names. Now...how close did we come to landing any of these guys? Who knows?
Jimmy Clausen - Notre Dame (we were never really in it after his older brother's experience here)
Cameron Newton - Florida (he was listening to us for a while, then it became clear he was all UF...I believe this guy was a bust, though)
Stephen Garcia - South Carolina (another who listened to us for a little while, but then ultimately went with Spurrier)
Nick Fanuzzi - Alabama (who? exactly)
Others from that class, who we had no or next to no shot with, include:
Tyrod Taylor - Virginia Tech
Ryan Mallett - Michigan, then Arkansas
Robert Marve - Miami, then ???
Aarop Corp - USC
Mike Paulus - UNC
Kodi Burns - Auburn
John Brantley - Florida
Obviously, we would have taken a guy like Clausen, Mallett, or Brantley over Jarrett Lee. Those were the elite passers of 2007.
We probably also would've taken Tyrod Taylor or Stephen Garcia, although those guys would have provided plenty of headaches before they started playing well.
Newton, Marve, Fanuzzi, Corp, Burns....all busts IMO. None of these guys would have worked out better.

It pisses me off when we can justify some faults of some qbacks but some qbacks there no room for error

I'm proud to say I have never booed the guy or cheered for another player to take his place. However. He goes to the same meetings same practices everyday. He should know that he is one injury away from playing. He should be waiting and craving that chance to show that last year was a fluke and he can lead this team. Well he got it and flopped. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt against bama. That was a tough situation to be thrown into, but this was TECH.

Let me answer the original question with much more brevity:
We really really wanted Cameron Newton. We thought he was the next Jamarcus.
Cam Newton went to Florida and got arrested for stealing a laptop and throwing it out his dorm room window.
He now plays for Blinn College.
That would not have worked out very well for LSU at all. We dodged a bullet with Cam Newton. Next to him, I'm glad we have Lee.
