All of these players were great, and I feel fortunate of have seen many of them in person.

I really like Joe Dumars, and would love to see him come back home and get into coaching. Great X's and O's guy, phenomenal worker, good person, great representative. Did great as a Piston player and doing great as their GM.

Randy Livingston. I played with him and won a title with him

i watched newman play my high school, rapides high, in i think 91 or 92 for the state title in 2a i remember RL and manning both had 3 fouls by the end of the first quarter and set out the entire 2nd quarter seemed like. then they played the entire 2nd half with out a foul and newman come back to beat us. my dad who never blames officials for a loss because his motto is never let the officials decided it. you got to get the game to a point were they shouldn't have a chance to decided it. well its the only time he has ever said that the officials calling decided a game.

Procell wasn't anywhere near 5'11 - more like 5'7 - 5'8 - He did the coaching during his senior year while a teacher drove the bus and sat at the end of the bench....I knew Greg when he transfered to NSU...He later coached at Natchitoches Central before moving to Shreveport...I still see him once in a while ... He told me he doesn't watch basketball anymore...

I have seen a lot of great high school basketball players...watched Joe Dumars play since he was in the 7th grade...John Rudd and the Sanders kid from Deridder were very good...Melvin Russell and Robert Parish from Woodlawn in Shreveport...Calvin Natt from Monroe...but the best all around player was Louis Dunbar from Webster High school in Minden...he was 6'10 and could play every position...went to college at the University of Houston where he played guard and then was the star of the Globetrotters before retiring...don't know where he is these days but he was the best

Just found this on the internet - Louis Dunbar played for the globetrotters for 27 years and was known as "Sweet" Lou - He is now coaching basketball in the Houston area

I would have to say with 25 years of watching La high school basketball Randy Livingston was the most polished with the most advanced game but the most physically dominant I ever saw was Leonard Mitchell at St Martinville. He was just and incredible athlete seeing him get out on the break was awesome he averaged I believe 31 points,17 rebounds and 10 blocks his senior year. He was definitely a man among boys.

donald royal of st aug needs to be in this conversation.he dominated 4A/new orleans basketball durung the early-mid 80's.won state c'ship at highest level, went to notre dame and played several years in the NBA.

also, big baby dominated high school B ball during his tenure at U high.although he played in a lower classification, they played up in class quite often--even traveled to tourneys outside the state.baby dominated all of his opponents.

he was also a heck of a nice guy. i tutored him in math as a grad assistant back in the 80s. saw him one day at mcdonalds, and he made it a point to speak to me and paid special attention to my kids.
