It is insane that LSU kicks kids off the team for smoking pot when we're under no obligation to do so compared to our peer institutions who definitely do not hold the same standards. WTF. I mean if Les (and apparently now Orgeron) wasn't so strict we'd have had Tyrann Mathieu in 2012. There was really no good reason for him to not be on the team. Jesus Jeremy Hill had statutory rape brought against him and was barely suspended.

I just got so triggered

ETA: Jeremy served essentially a one year suspension because his entry to school was delayed because of these issues. I had forgotten about that (credit to the poster below for pointing that out). Still my point stands. Pot essentially gets you permanently removed from the team when other crimes that are easily worse, do not. It's insane.

After seeing videos of White riding his horse, I can’t help thinking of a cowboy wrestling a steer to the ground when he tackles people the way he does.

That's not accurate. His entrance to school was delayed by an entire year because of those legal issues, if I recall correctly. So, to say he was "barely suspended" is false because he wasn't even on the team when that shite came out, and I think it was all finalized before he got on campus.

Edit to add: However, I do agree with you about the drug stuff to an extent. LSU definitely acts more nobly than other schools in this department, it seems.

Yeah, we can all probably agree that LSU's marijuana policy is far stricter than most every other team in conference and goes to great lengths to self-report every minor infraction, especially in comparison to the team coming to Baton Rouge this weekend.

However, the players know the rules. It's not like they are getting booted for a single failed drug test...they are getting booted for failing MULTIPLE tests after knowing the policy. Regardless of whether or not it's a good policy, they have to follow the rules or face the consequences.

Should it be changed to something less harsh? Yes, probably.

Its really not that hard to NOT smoke pot. I have woken up every day for 40+ years and NOT smoked pot. I could smoke it if I wanted to. I have easy access to it. It sounds interesting. If I tested positive for a random drug test I could lose my ability to ever work in my field again, but I get a random drug test once every other year so I would probably be fine. Odds are slim I would ever get caught. Yet, I still wake up every day and NOT smoke it.

It's a pretty simple and painless sacrifice for certain benefits in life.

Their star recruits are handed brand new Dodge Challengers and ours are given a horse. No wonder they keep beating us out for prospects.

Even a gimp horse is easily more reliable than a Dodge, but that’s just me

Honey Badger got a one-game in 2011,
then failed "more than 10" tests over the course of several months and did LSUs rehab program before his dismissal in 2012,
then enrolled in rehab in Houston "for Tyran," not because the school told me to,
then was arrested for possession when there was talk about coming back

He had his fair shake. Not sure any SEC program would put up with that

I mean, I agree he's a POS. But why you gotta bring cannabis into it?

Yeah - well #7 on the field would have been a win in 2012 against AL and high possibility of another ring

Does LSU think horses are less obvious than Dodges?

I'm on to y'all.
