Was 2016 the most dissapointing LSU team in recent memory?

For me, it is. 8-4 with that roster is unbelievable. 7 players from that team have already become starters as rookies in the NFL (White, Adams, Godchaux, Beckwith, Riley, Fournette, Pocic). In addition, there was Guice and Key - first round talents both playing at their highest level during their LSU career. That's 9 NFL impact players, and then we still had good players like Clapp, Weathersby, Chark, Dupre, Dural, etc.
That team was uber talented. Blows my mind how they lost 4 games, when they had far superior talent than everyone they played not named Bama (and were pretty close to Bama).

Didn’t have a quarterback and played the first third of a season with a head coach who had no idea how to use a quarterback. In that sense, 8-4 is about right.

2017. No doubt. I’ll take the loss to Wisky and AU over Troy and MSU. Everything else is irrelevant.

2016 was supposed to be the year and Les goes out and loses two games and gets fired.

They don’t beat Auburn (and maybe Florida considering they almost lost to Florida) if they don’t lose to Troy.

The worst loss of that season was with Coach O verse a bad and depleted Florida team at home.

Yes, I was counting on at least a SEC championship in 2016. Instead we lost 4 games.

The team was built around Fournette almost to a fault. If he doesn't get hurt, that team is 11-1 at worst. I don't know what happened to Brandon Harris between mid-season of his sophmore year to the end of his senior season, but he had no business being on the field playing the way he was.

This^
The one LSU home game I spent a ton of money to travel for. After the game I was loving rubbing the fact that there was NO way they would hire O in peoples faces. Yet still they hired him

I’d just like to point out that our current coach lost half of those games with the 2016 team and had early season struggles in 2017
You’ll have to excuse me for not buying what you’re selling when it comes to “yea CLM was just clueless”
There was obviously some other problem that we’re still working on getting fixed

2016 lost to a very good Wisky and Aubie team.plus Bama.
UF was the one from 2016 that was bad.
2017 had two hideous losses plus a solid beat down from a weak gump team.
Hindsight says this season was more of a disappointment

The last 4 years of the Miles tenure was almost to a level of Hallman-Esque frustration.

Looking back at 2013 may put up a fight. We finally have stability at QB with Mett. We have the talent on the outside in Odell and Landry.... but LSU has the worst defense it has in a very long time.

Absolutely. We lost 4 games giving up a total of 3 TDs (1 to Wisc, 0 to Auburn, 1 to Alabama, and 1 to Florida). You have to really suck offensively to do that. It’s normal for many teams to give up 3 TDs in one game and still win.

That's not true. Look at what happened on the offensive line.

I’m holding my judgement on O for the 2018 season. Etling is gone, no more excuses.
