Under no circumstances was Howard walking into a starting job this year.

The bait and switch of redshirting the guy who asked to redshirt? Or the bait and switch of playing the guy that gave us the best chance to win the hardest games on our schedule?

Wow, I guess this is the new normal, a QB halfway through his redshirt year decides to leave.

Sorry, this may offend some, but not even finishing his redshirt year and going through a fall camp and competing as redshirt freshman makes him a quitter in my book.

I honestly expected better from him and his father. Oh well, not going to lose any sleep over a kid who never played a meaningful down for LSU.

He’s 100% staying. He’s a sprained ankle from starting this year and he’s practically guaranteed 2 years after that.
This says Howard knew he wouldn’t beat out Nuss and wants to start somewhere by 2024

What kid wants to ride the pine and get 1 year of playing time? Can’t blame him if he wants to play!

What kid has so little confidence in himself that he can say, definitively, right now that he will only have one year to play? QBs have turned into bigger divas than WRs. So many kids are terrified of competition. Leaving after the year you redshirted? Really? It's like they can't comprehend a college football team is going to carry multiple QBs on the roster and at a major P5 program, most of them are also blue-chip recruits. If competition is such an issue, commit to a G5 out of high school.

Walker isn't going to get any P5 guarantees to start next year either or the year after. So many things can happen over the next 4 years, it's very immature to leave with 4 years of eligibility left. Nuss was here already. Who he would be competing with for the starting job hasn't changed. Had he stayed here and had 1 or 2 years left and and lost the starting job, go for it. But leaving this early, weak.

I guess Howard felt like he was going to get sandwiched out in the next coupled of years. Nuss the next two then Colin Hurley steps in. Hurley probably starts his Sophomore year.

There is no "he is the future" in CFB anymore. Either your QB recruits starts by year 2 or they leave and go somewhere else. So then you sign someone elses QB recruits in the portal to fill in depth. Round and round the circle goes.

Not unless he's better than JD and Nuss.

What a joke. JD better be worth it. I doubt it.
