Why would he?

I mean, YPC is in Ford's favor. I think he can do practically everything Ridley can. Ridley is possibly the 5th best tailback in the SECW.

fair enough. I'm just saying with our spread out style of offense I think we would be better served with a quicker tailback who can make cuts to an opening. When Ridley chooses a direction that's the only place he's going. Obviously on 3rd and 2 or in a goal line situation, yeah I love Ridley. But outside of the redzone keep it with a guy who can't break a long one.

your right about using a quicker back but doesn't make ford a better back all around maybe just a better spread back.

I really need to go

lets beat the crap out of the aggies

Ridley has the best first cut of any LSU back since Justin Vincent in 2003.

I disagree with your assessment.

Fair enough.

He doesn't have great linear speed, but Ridley has really good vision and great lateral movement in traffic.

I would take a back with those characteristics over a burner any day (especially in the SEC).

Maybe on a team like 07 when we had a semblance of a passing game. Right now I'd rather the guy who averages 6.3 YPC and is a threat at times to break a long run. Ridley doesn't give you that. Like I said, I like the guy in short yardage situations but not as an every down back.

You put way too much stock in Ford's YPC average.

YPC goes down as touches increase. Ford had 41 touches to 225 (nearly five times Ford's).

For example, Ridley averaged 6.2 ypc on his first 41 attempts in 2010.

Now, I do think Ford is a true talent and will be a really good back. But right now, given what both guys bring to the table, I give the nod to Ridley.

IMO, SR does a fair job at this. He's not as efficient in open field and really shouldn't be used outside. He's had a nice year that ranks up there with some of the better LSU single season efforts. I hope he gets to add 150 to this season's total.

Not to mention that Ridley gets all the short-yardage situations when a long gain is unlikely.

true that.

I'll be the first to say that I'll bet Ridley has a decent NFL career.
