How do you know I don't have facts? I live in Austin and go to UT. Waco is only an hour and half.
Living an hour away makes you the guy with the facts?
UT fans hated Briles long before this, and thats a fact.

Research and statistics and shown when a school has a ranked football team it has direct correlation with students applying to the programs at a higher rate than when a school does not have a ranked or successful program.
Really? So you dont think LSU would win games under Briles? Sounds like a false public opinion isn't being factored into your stats. Guess Briles is good to go, because Im pretty sure he knows how to win games.

You must think football is the most important thing at a university. Sad!
100% assumption on your part, and without any evidence to support said assumption. I have never stated this, and I dont plan on it.

Maybe you need to get your fact sheets together and understand more about what actually happened in Waco and why Baylor terminated Briles.
I'm not calling out his character or basing my opinion of him based on a rival school's fanbase.

The guy can coach!! He is an offensive genius which is what we need!!

Whether anyone thinks i"m wrong or whatever, I honestly don't think Briles got a fair shake.
I think he was definitely at some fault in the whole thing, but from the beginning I've thought that he probably didn't know wtf was going on, until one day everything kind of was brought in front of him and it was just too late to really do anything.
Like I said, he did some really shitty stuff, but to blame him entirely for the whole thing is a bit ridiculous IMO.
I knew Briles somewhat personally, I was in the Baylor locker room my freshman year (2008) and never saw anything like what's been mentioned. Doesn't mean someone isn't a snake behind closed doors though.

Rape allegations covered up by a coaching staff and school leadership doesn't go on everywhere.
Baylor has repeatedly said they will never release the results of their investigation. I don't think it was about Ken Starr and a witch hunt against Briles.
Briles is too old and I think he is pathetic

Not sure the BU Chuck and Duck offense will work in the SEC

Seriously. Stop posting. You're like a 4 year old trying to talk quantum physics. Its completely out of your league. Take a seat. Post #16 should occur somewhere else, about something else not related to this. You're just spouting off shite you know nothing about. I'm guessing you're just pulling it from your arse.

This is the saddest "it was just the tip!" thread ever.

He's got at least 10 years left in him. You're also setting yourself up for the long term coach that is his son.
I googled and found the wacko news reporter that had some secret recordings that have swayed me into thinking this was a big Baylor issue and had nothing to do with Briles.
(secret recordings)

No Players Interviewed
Drayton Mclane speaks on the issue (McLane baylor football stadium)

Briles was 2-3 in bowl games and gave up something like a 35 point lead vrs Mich St in one of the bowls. His "duck and chuck" offense won't work in the SEC.

do you have statistics that show this?
What if Stidham was package deal with Briles?

I mean, Baylor's offense "won't work in the SEC" but Ole Miss' offense does. They are sooooo different, don't ya know.

I'd be thrilled with Briles.
There are better options and that is all that matters at this point. LSU should not be associating with Briles until they've exhausted all superior options. He is damaged goods. His actual guilt or innocence in the entire situation is irrelevant to the public perception that is associated with his presence.

Worked out pretty well for Louisville and Petrino. Recruits don't care much about public perception.
Posted on 9/25/16 at 10:53 pm to tenacious
If we're gonna go with a scum bag we might as well go for Petrino who has done it in the sec before and has more left in the tank.

Petrino is a great coach. I wouldn't mind him at all.

So, the football coach dictates whether or not a kid will attend LSU for engineering? Are you being serious?
YES I AM SERIOUS (and don't call me Shirley).
I am proud to have earned an Electrical Engineering degree from LSU in Dec '95. I chose to attend LSU PRIMARILY because of football & sports (as a fan).

hmmmm
Looks like there is a little smoke, at least. Herman we all expected, Briles ... not really the first name that came to mind.
But, a couple of things: what happened at Baylor does look like a witch hunt. And frankly, it wouldn't be the first time politics interfered with a Texas football program not named University of Texas.
Regarding offense, defense etc: it seemed like the universally accepted damning issue with Miles was "the abysmal offense". Briles should eliminate that concern quickly, if he were to come. His Baylor teams were averaging close to 600 yds a game. Honestly, of all the possible names on the table, if you were eliminating everything but just system and production, he's at the top.
Question- do coaches in the same athletic department usually know each other well enough that they could give an informed opinion on whether someone ran a tight or loose program? Specifically, might a women's basketball coach be aware if a football coach let things run amok, or not?
Because God knows Kim Mulkey was in Baton Rouge just about all baseball season. I wonder if anyone ever met with her informally, and got an inside opinion?
