Between our fans and the adopted fans in Omaha, I would think Skip is a lock for this.

Love Skip but Rod Dedeaux may have him beat. How awesome is that though. The 2 undisputed most legendary coaches in College Baseball both have Louisiana ties.
ETA: I'll be voting for Skip, obviously.
ETA2: Skip will be a lock also because our fans absolutely dominate these types of polls. USC really doesn't have as passionate of a following, especially for baseball.

Why? What has he done for us lately?

Louisiana boy Dedeaux is the right answer and it's not even really close but I'm an LSU fan so I voted for Bertman.
1. Dedeaux
2a. Bertman
2b. Auggie

He let Saban go to Miami.

Based purely on the numbers, sure. However, I believe most, if not all, of Dedeaux's championships predate a large tournament field and the CWS being televised nationally.
Skip won his titles during the era of a single national championship game on CBS. The event never had a spotlight like it before then.
The link asks who the most "iconic" coach is. In that regard, I think Skip can be argued #1 considering his dynasty coincided with the growing popularity of the sport.

This was my exact thought process.

That's some sound logic there that I can't argue with. You've made an excellent case.
You've convinced me. Good thing I had already voted for Bertman anyway.

First time I've ever gotten this response on the Rant.

That’s more to blame on Mark Emmert.

I disagree. Dedeaux is a very reasonable answer, but there's absolutely room for discussion.
Dedeaux - 45 years as coach at USC, 11 titles, 28 conference championships, .699 winning percentage
Skip - 18 years as coach at LSU, 5 titles, 7 conference championships, .724 winning percentage.
So Skip has a better overall winning percentage and more titles per season coached. Dedeaux's big advantage is coaching for an extra 27 years. I think it's totally reasonable to say that the guy who coached for 27 extra years deserves some extra credit for it, but by the same token college baseball was probably a more competitive sport in Skip's era.

Because I am hard, you will not like me. But the more you hate me, the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair. There is no racial bigotry here. I do not look down on naggers, kikes, wops or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless. And my orders are to weed out all non-hackers who do not pack the gear to serve in my beloved forum.
