And proceeds to say almost the exact same thing in different words.
My point being that the takeaway is a straw man of TV's actual point. Yes, a team can have a successful season without making it to Omaha because success is defined in different ways for different programs. If you think that's not true, we're watching a different sport

Of course he says that. After all, he has gone to Omaha and has not ever won there!!

How could anybody think that going to Omaha without winning makes you a success?

No one will so that shouldn't be a slight against him. College baseball is completely different now.

Heck, the Will Hellmers situation alone. How could that not be defined as a success?

Because we seemingly had a perfectly capable reliever on staff who never got any real innings until they had no choice but to throw him out there.

Maybe we win a Sunday or 2 if Hellmers is given an opportunity sooner.

Said it to take the pressure off the team from their lack of prior Omaha success

If, big if he were to win it all he would have exactly the same amount of championships as Jay with about 5 years less experience as a head coach.

I like Tony V.

I don’t root for other SEC teams, or particularly like Tennessee, but all that aside I like Tony’s message.
He has built a beast in Knoxville.

You're still operating under an assumption that Tennessee losing to Evansville would have been a failure of a season.

Where did I say that or suggest that?

Vitello is a good coach, and I see why guys want to play for him. With that said, championships aren’t a measure of success for people who never won one. Once you do, that’s the new marker for success. I get why he’s saying it, and he’s not wrong, but bring a title to Knoxville, and watch how things change in terms of expectations.

The players take on his arrogance, that brings the hate.

Like it or not

But you do know why, and it has nothing to do with his baseball acumen.

He was pissed because the day before someone asked a question in the PC that if they lost the SR to Evansville would the season be a success. That's why he went off after the game yesterday.
