A big difference in LSU these days and the old days of Skip Bertman, is back then LSU had the best facilites in the land of college baseball. Now LSU no longer stands alone in that regard. Only Texas could come close, but they were a clear second place.

The overall growth in interest in college baseball over the last 20 years has been exponential. That exponential growth may have never materialized if LSU wasn't so dominant in the Skip era. Suddenly everyone wanted what LSU had, and multi-mil stadium construction projects began across the southeast and beyond, and continue. LSU pretty much sparked that fire. And
In reality, Ameritrade Stadium was made possible by throngs of LSU fans from eight or nine hundred miles away filling up the old stadium and not leaving room for anyone else. Tell me I'm wrong.

There was a day when LSU could outwooo other campuses for recruits. Those days are kinda gone now. Most every team in the SEC fills their stadiums for conference games and has great stadiums and practice facilities with anemities, and credible coaching staffs. LSU has been somewhat a victim of their own success.

First hand knowledge I played with him our first yr of college. Absolute stone cold killer! He is more Saban than Herman, you ain’t goin to see Vitello kissing any players with his lips. Spent a lot of late nights in the cages with him. Hard core workaholic and all about Baseball that and Dave Matthews. I brought him to buy Yield when it came it out cause he didn’t have a car. So yeah I know him. Great guy

Don't be surprised if you get lucky and land Tim Corbin. Vandy's 3700 seat stadium isn't exactly limelight stuff.
That would be a real hire. Tim would be the first college coach to win national championships with two different programs if I'm thinking right. You could bank that.

Just stop, I’d say you’re embarrassing yourself but you’re probably too stupid to understand you should feel shame.

I think what everyone is saying here is that he showed up at Tennessee and changed the mindset. He made a bad team average and a average team good. He’s getting more out of his teams than LSU currently is.

Personally I like a coach who can get average players to play at a high level and win. This would seem to imply that when he does put together or end up with real talent, that he can make those guys play better which could give them the edge in a game that implores equal oppositional talent. I don’t know the guy but if he has a history of doing this where ever he goes then that is a great sign.

LSU has the luxury of taking its sweet time with this because it’s LSU and I think the boys will be putting on a show for the country to see and for their coach. When players have something else to play for besides themselves and also have real love and passion for whatever it is they playing for, that can make them very dangerous. Oh and we also happen to have REAL talent. It’s not as if we’re talentless and saying this. Can’t wait to see it!

Augie Garrido won championships at 2 different schools. 3 with Cal State Fullerton; 2 with texas.

You're right. Corbin is too old. Sully doesn't fit. Schlossnagle is a dang Texan. Bianco is just, well, Bianco. Everyone else is not worthy.

I guess that leaves little Tony. Time will tell. Once again, he is the one guy that would probably crawl sideways to LSU. But how much will sentiments change if UT can't find Omaha...

Thank you again. I never claimed to think right. That's why I use the word if a lot.. According to my long tenured lovely Louisiana born wife, I don't think right. (BTW, she is for Tony too, but I think that's mostly cause she thinks he is cute, because she said so.)

So you think Vitello is a douche? I don't see that at all.

No. I did for a minute when he sourly and inappropriately spouted off at an opposing coach after losing a series. But that was sour grapes talking. Like with "the agony of defeat" as I think it was Jim McKay who phrased it as such. Tony made a mistake and aplogized for it. He probably grew up a little.

What he did though in that moment, was give Arkansas etrrnal incentive, bulletin board material so to speak for the foreseeable future. They'll go after Vitello like wildfire every time they play him for eternity. As good as Arkansas is year in and year out, Tony left himself in a handicap position with his little tirade.

And that is why I say he is green eared. He still has a lot to learn IMO. He has four years head coaching experience in the SEC with one good year. He is going up against guys like Sully, Van Horn, Corbin, Bianco, Lemonis, and on down the line. Tony will be the new kid on the block for a few more seasons. He isn't going to magically transform LSU.

LSU fans like to think they have the best talent available right now, and Paul just couldn't get it done with them. That just isn't true. It is a pipe dream.

Again with your Arkansas obsession.

Lemonis had fewer years head coaching experience in a lesser conference, and inherited a better Indiana program than Vitello inherited at Tennessee.

Just admit you have something personal against him. All of your arguments are complete shite.

Nope. Don't know him personally. I think he is a good young coach. Stellar hire for LSU? No. Not everyone shares your infatuation with Tony.

What makes you so sure the LSU admin is pursuing Tony as top candidate?

Lemonis could be the top target for all anyone knows outside the small circle of hush. Would he be suitable for you?
