No way they give this guy total freedom to be in control of a 300 million dollar business. He will be told what to do and say no problem.

I don’t know what’s worse…hiring a yes man or letting a guy who has no idea what he’s doing play like he’s a qualified AD and running the show.

I clearly remember everyone here hating verge in the recent past. Does anyone feel confident in his promotion? I hope im wrong but I feel like we are being set up to be disappointed when they announce the new coach. I really want to be wrong about that

I really don't care to engage with any speculative "yes man" talk. The people who hate Landry were going to say that about any AD who was hired. We all know who the coaching candidates are, and it's going to come down to who's interested, and what is LSU willing to pay. No matter who the AD is.

We were hamstrung years ago by an administration that wouldn't pay up. We're all going to find out together if this "new" administration is going to bring us back to those days, or bring us forward.

That’s not true at all verge is a lazy, good ole boy hire. Why get rid of Woodward to hire the right hand guy? Because he’ll do what they tell him. The no search is frustrating. A school like LSU should be talking to people around the country.

Let's hope he's learned what not to do under the past two guys.

You don't get my point. No matter who they would have brought in, people would just say "Landry is controlling him". Could they have hired someone better? I don't know. Were you in on the meetings to know who they called, and who might have said no? Because I know I wasn't there. I'm not any more excited about this than you are, but I'm not going to assume that Verge is a yes man, and I'm also not buying that people were going to trust any other hire, so long as they believe Landry is in control.

That’s inspiring and a great reason to hire him. Good luck with our yes man getting a break from the SEC.

Sankey is licking his chops to frick us on replays and play day games.

Scott Woodward got way too big for his britches. He was interfering in all sorts of politics. You can’t do that without consequences. The 10yr bloated contracts to not one but two failing coaches with the main one that never showed up made it an easy call.
And before you scream mulkey and jay he didn’t do anything for those hires except what almost any ad would’ve done. Jay was pushed on him and mulkey wanted to come home

The donors. They will have full control now that SW is gone. The hire will be their decision.

that is what he has always been for decades. He has had a job at LSU because he has done what he has been told to do.

He's the perfect fit for this reason. He hasn't been at LSU for twenty years because he was recognized as a rising star. He's going to get plenty of help from the govenor's mansion via Rousse. For all of you Trump syncophants, the govenor's hiring practices are straight from President's playbook who took it from the Huey Long playbook.

As far as the Morial familiy's influence in New Orleans, is not what it used to be due to some of their means and methods. Marc Morial went to the sanctity of the Urban League because the DOJ was on his trail.
