They're under a first year head coach and have been getting better and better every week. I'm not so sure that if the game was played this Saturday the result would be the same because LSU hasn't been improving throughout the year.

True, and if you recall it seems like the guys got comfortable with the lead and Auburn made a run in the 2nd half, so......yeah....not sure if we could beat them if we played them now, although does any of this matter at this point???? We lost to the Gumps again, and that just did me in. That was truly my last hope for us to at least have a shot at the SECCG.

Seriously

And if LSU loses to A&M the wheels come off IMO

if we're down by more than 10 at half...the wheels come off in the middle of the A&M game.

they gave up against Bama, if they get down to JFF he will have a career night, lock up the Heisman, and ensure doom against Arky.

Last year they had a better QB and WRs, it was also at Arkansas. The LSU offense should destroy them this year.

....and if they blitz every play... ?

screen passes to Hill... Seems to be a new effective wrinkle in the Cam Cameron offense.

Ole Miss is not a good team this year. They are an average team. They beat a Texas team that, the the week before, had lost to a very average BYU in the most humiliating way possible. The Texas defense, to start the season, could not stop the run at all. After the Ole Miss loss they fired their DC and things have improved somewhat.

And calling Texas undefeated in the Big-12 isn't terribly meaningful when they so far haven't played 3 of the teams in the top half of the division. The only win they have over a decent team is Oklahoma, and that's a team with their own set of problems.

Meanwhile Ole Miss has feasted on a bunch of average to bad SEC team and lost to every good team they faced. They aren't a good team, and especially weren't a good team when we faced their 3rd string defense. The problem is that we, also, aren't a particularly good team. Some parts of the team are very good, sometimes, but lately we definitely haven't been a good team.

The SEC is largely down this year, and we are in the middle of the pack in a down year. Getting to 9 wins instead of 8 isn't going to change that fact. Hell, 3 SEC teams are already at 9 wins, and one of them is Missouri.

They've only been blown out by one team (Alabama).

Their other two losses we're to ranked SEC West teams by one score and a combined 11 points (Auburn and A&M).

Yeah, LSU shouldn't have lost and is probably the better football team but to treat Ole Miss as if they were some 3rd rate scrub team like North Texas is just silly.

Or your definition of "good team" is ridiculous.

Choctaw, from the start of the season, I said with our schedule, we would be lucky to finish 8&4!

then why are you whining when we have 3 losses?

They're very likely to finish the regular season unranked, with 8 wins. That's not good. That's average. It may not be average amongst all football teams in the FBS, but college football is ridiculously stratified and they aren't competing against the AAC's and Sun Belts, and MACs of the world, they are competing against other major conference programs. And amongst those programs they are distinctly average. Not awful, but nothing special either.

Sure, they only lost to Auburn and A&M by a collective 11 points, but they've got wins over Vandy and us by a collective 7 points, so are they really an 8 win team in disguise, or a 4 win team in disguise?

They aren't scum. They aren't a bottom feeder. They are average. Which is what we are this year as well. An average major conference team. We aren't Kentucky or Moo State, but we're not at the top either.

IMO, LSU and Ole Miss are good not great teams this year. You can sugarcoat it and say mediocre but I'd bet Ole Miss and LSU would be favored against 80% of NCAA division one schools right now.

If you're just looking inside the SEC, yeah they're middle of the pack.

The Ole Miss game exposed Mettenberger.

NFL arm, JUCO head.

He has relied on his receivers creating separation. He has been fortunate that his pre snap reads have often given him an open primary receiver, because the Ole Miss game proved that there obviously were no post snap reads happening.

I really don't want that to be interpreted as a bashing of him, and subsequent blame for our record, because the defense is more to blame overall, IMO.

Did Vegas predict an Ole Miss loss to a team with a depleted roster?

I said 9-3 at the beginning of the year (was critized by alot of positards on here) and I am sticking to it. I think this team is young and still hungry and finishes with wins over the Aggots and Arky and eventually wins the bowl game.

I predicted 10-2. We will be lucky to have 4 losses only at the rate we are going. sad indeed.

If by spin, you mean logic, then yes. I can never figure Hugo out, sometimes I think he's a Pumper like me, and sometimes I think he's a Negatiger like .. you fill that one in. Must be because he rarely uses all caps.

My point is that Lsu plays up or down depending on who they play.

Maybe that flew over your head.

Incorrect, LSU's season total base wasn't 8. It was largely 9s at the majority of shops. Cantor opened LSU at 8.5, while LVH, and most offshore outs,etc..had LSU at 9, there were even a few 9.5s early on like at 5Dimes which had them at 9.5 Under -$1.60.

LSU largely settled in at 9, and was then bet Under over those weeks until season's start, thus driving the prices to 9 Under -$1.40 to -$1.50.

Check out this LSU BCS Odds thread, and the folks that told me to STFU/die over predicting losses to Bama, UGA, and Old Myth.. tigerdroppings.com/rant/LSU-Odds-to-Win-BCS-Title

So if LSU wins 9 does that mean the coaches and players overachieved?

ummm neaux. with this patsy schedule, come on man.

a blind monkey could win 8 a year with this team. any decent coach should get 9 or 10 wins a year with a 13 game season. That is far from elite though.
