Clemson keeping Brownell for whatever ridiculous reason hurts Wade's leverage. This is to up it.

Trouble is Joe gets sucked into these "games" and acts like the prom queen that just found her king getting a handie behind the jungle juice at the after party. I maintain we don't need a search firm but a third party to zero in on and seal our pick.

Gregg Marshall's wife may have made him more attainable.

Assuming the "source" was someone within the Clemson AD, rather than a booster, then that was a big domino to fall in LSU's favor.

I think Indiana has their sights set much higher than a guy like Wade. Oklahoma St. could jump in the mix, but it seems like it would be an odd fit for a guy who has spent the large part of his career in the southeast. I don't see California being a player. But then again, Washington just went all the way across the country to grab their HC. If the Clemson news is true, then it seems like a VCU/LSU battle

One name we haven't heard pop up in a few days is Musselman. You would think that would be a Cal/LSU battle (if either were interested), yet there's really been no discussion about him.

Local beat writer (that nobody ever heard of) makes a statement not backed up by a credible source and the Rant goes crazy.

Damn that is funny stuff.

problem is any kind of negotiating from Wade will most likely cause alleva to leave the table and go find a guy who "wants" the job.

Which VCU beat writer would you choose to believe?

Would a writer that follows another school be more credible to you?

I'm going out on a limb and predicting LSU will have its coach locked up within the next 18 hours.

Perhaps one with some proven credibility would be better. Maybe a national source? Would you jump on something T-Bob wrote?

Well you might.

The point is that all of you drama queens go ballistic over nothing. Half of you are chewing the wall paper because Alleva moves to slowly on a hire and the other half are tearing your hair because he moves too fast.

And you don' see anything funny in that?

NC State, Illinois and Mizzou all moved quickly with big offers to lock their guys in. Whether or not either of the three are worth the money they got is up for debate, but those three schools didn't wait around to get sucked into significant negotiations/PR plays.

Wade makes ~$1.5 at VCU. I think they would go up to at least $2.0 to keep him. If Wade is your guy then you hit him with a big contract you don't think VCU will match. You may have to pay a little more than you want, but you do so to make sure you get your coach.

I'd go in with a $2.3 - $2.5 million take it or leave it offer. If VCU matches, then they will have had to give their guy a SIGNIFICANT increase to stay. I would bank of VCU thinking "we've lost coaches before and continued to sustain success. We aren't overpaying by that much."

Indiana is still the "set the market" job out there. They are looking well above the Will Wade's at the moment, but it's no guarantee one of the big names will leave for Indiana. Still, you don't want to be fighting with Indiana for their "second tier" guys. Make you hire now, and let Indiana chase unicorns until they end up with a Charlie Strong hire

bidding war for Wade

Alleva refused to get into a bidding war for a football coach even though he has one of the top programs in the country. What are the chances of him getting into a bidding war for a basketball coach after his first two hires bombed and program apathy has to be near an all time low?

Basketball is clearly Alleva's sport though. The last 2 hires prove that

No, but I tend to believe something Dellenger prints although people outside of LA likely don't know who he is.
