USC is currently 3-3. According 247 USC has the 4th best talent in college football. LSU is fifth.

It's amazing how poorly USC is performing considering the level of talent on that team. Very under performing.

Really wish I could explain because it gives you a greater respect for Orgeron on a personal level. I can tell you that coach John Robinson played a big role in the decision. Ask someone you know who’s got scoops they may have heard the story.

O has done a great Job, but LSU was fricking loaded with talent. USC didn't have 3 straight top 5 classes when he took the interim. They were still struggling since probation.

Plus he had Aranda on board already. The Brady hire is phenomenal, but I don't know how that plays out there.

Like if we didn't fire Canada, I doubt he's on board with Brady. Most OCs would want their own people. E was a disaster hire that turned out great because he realized he couldn't install an rpo offense and has put his Ego aside.

Things fell into place here that might not have there.

Yes but in the spring of 2018 it really wasn’t. The new transfer rules just passed around that time.

still fans with that same bs. No we weren't loaded with talent. football is one in the trenches and at qb. Our trenches were bad when O took over and still are only mediocre. That's why his first priority was to rebuild the trenches. Do you think he was lying. Miles did a terrible job of recruiting linemen and developing them, both sides. RB wasn't much to talk about either. lbs were way down but Aranda was already in the early rebuild at lb when O took over. TALENT WAS DOWN AT LSU, NOT UP.

other than OU, what teams have gotten transfers from Heisman-contending QB talents who were already developed?

What did I miss, what Heisman contending transfer QB did Bama get

The only transfer I remember them getting was Coker, who is from Mobile and got beat out by Blake Sims.

I think you guys are missing his point, having a talent like Burrow available was extremely lucky. What if UM goes with Burrow instead of Haskins? Do we get Haskins? I doubt it. Of course O gets all the credit in the world for getting Burrow to campus AND having the willingness to change the offense. But it was luck he was available. Transfer QBs aren’t new but we’re no where near the level we are see even since Burrow and are likely to see going forward

Only relative to past LSU teams. He took over a program that was consistently 9-3 not 3-9. If he gets to the next level (and it looks good but we’re not there yet) he deserves credit.

Lol why?

USC will hire a marquee coach that we’d be lucky to have. They’re the front runner to land Urban Meyer our of retirement.

They’ll make a much bigger hire

They didn’t hire him because he doesn’t represent their national brand well. USC is “glamorous, famous, Hollywood”

Nobody outside of Louisiana can even understand what Orgeron is saying. I live in Los Angeles. Nobody here wanted him.

He can recruit, but as others have already said. He’s not a top coach. Without Burrow and Brady we’re no different than we’ve been

Honestly, people underplay how much of a mess USC was.

With those sanction, it would have been difficult for O to get things off the ground.

Just like its been difficult for everyone else to.

I think we had the perfect scenario for O. There was a lot in place already that he could figure a few things out while still winning enough games to keep his seat cool.

I mean, Clay Helton would have been his OC for sure. So its not like there would have been no issues with the offense.

Excuse me, Jake Coker just won a natty, didn't receive any heisman votes. My bad.

Burrow specifically, but getting a productive transfer QB is increasingly common. Orgeron had the foresight to save scholarships in preparation for a deficiency identified in the spring, rather than using them on a questionable take on signing day. He also hired Bill Busch with the intention of increasing the recruiting footprint of the staff. Finally, he sold Burrow on his vision of a wide open offense and closed on him.

A series of calculated decisions led to Burrow being at LSU, and even if they weren't specifically made with Burrow in mind, they were good decisions by Orgeron that put him in that position. To act like it was pure dumb luck is to be disingenuous.

They run an air raid offense and they basically have to switch QBs every drive because of injuries.

Thats not a great combo.

..."luck into Burrow" ???? you obviously aren't an O supporter to make this comment and the others. It must make you sick to see his success.

I thought having Orgeron at LSU was culture shock because to be honest I thought we were better than hiring good ole boy coonasses. But he has surprise me and I’m glad to say I was wrong.

But he was for sure a culture shock to USC. That place is far too stuck up to keep someone around like orgeron even if it is the right decision.

I don’t give a shite who USC hires or have any idea about whether their next coach will have success or not. That was not the point of my post. You sound as dumb as shite! Orgeron wasn’t retained and has done a fantastic job at LSU . What has USC done? Absolutely nothing!
And they have talent. Go look up their players and their ratings and get back to me

, why do some of you think this? I've been an Orgeron detractor, but I always want LSU to do well. The "haters" are enjoying this season as much, if not more, than the pumpers.
