I saw the players run to NEZ to pump up crowd. Not so much to the other parts of the stadium.
We were on the edge of the student section and I saw a shirt from an adult in regular seating that was quite classy. Something about if you aren't going to scream, go home bitches, or something equally amazing. So please stop with the whole, "OMGWTF!!!111!!>@<@ Our student section is killing TS!!!"
And not everyone was chanting Neck, nor was everyone chanting Jarrett Lee when JJ was up. Matter of fact, I couldn't even tell what they were chanting right before JJ's pass.

I dont really buy the argument the students were crammed into the other areas. I just dont think enough are going to games or cant go to games.
There are 14,400 student tickets, 5,000 of those tickets reserved for greek and student organizations (those sections are 105 and 106).
Everybody knows its common practice to borrow a friends ID to get into the game but LSU has clamped down more so than in years past.
Students have friends and family in town and find an ID and ticket for them to join them in the student section. With LSU clamping down, many are deciding to look for tickets elsewhere or just watch the game at a bar.
Students are herded into the stadium like cattle, treated like terrorists, then searched thoroughly by power tripping state troopers.
In years past you would have an open section in the student section for a game because maybe the law school had big exams that monday or a different function. But now its the general student seating they cant find enough bodies to fill the stands because of LSU's policy.

I'm a senior at LSU right now and the students are definitely spoiled to beating the frick out of everybody.

They run to the SEZ all the time.

What does this have to do with anything in this thread?

You can hear the Neck chant loud and clear broseph. And we could hear the Lee chant in the WU.

They would rather be drunk, doing classless chants than actually watch the game
These gosh dang kids and their dang nintendo with the Obama and the chinese lead paint taking Christ out of Christmas and the rap videos with the no prayer in schools!!!!!!

I'll gladly take the tradeoff of a "spoiled" student section if I get to insure we get to continue "beating the frick out of everybody."

Here's a fact: the student section is the loudest part of Tiger Stadium. They always stand. They always cheer (occasionally with obscenities). They are typically funny as hell, and surprisingly coordinated in their offensive cheers.
I will admit that the Greek section clears out way too early. What are you going to do about it? Go ahead, reduce greek tickets. I promise that non-greek students will start bitching about all the drunk pledges in their row.
The student section isn't the problem. Its old people who don't cheer, don't stand. The only section of older people in Tiger Stadium I respect is the SEZ.

The cane wavers in this thread act like the entire student section is classless and that the rest of the stadium is full of the old money, wine and cheese contingent. It simply isn't true.
And while I don't doubt the classless chants were audible, it wasn't the entire section.
For those who believe people don't choose to spend their money at schools with good football programs *among other considerations* are fooling themselves. Students bring plenty of money into the LSU system.
So just calm down, gramps.

It's my position that there's no "problem" with Tiger Stadium outside of of a few whiny arse people bitching about non-existent problems or longing for some non-existent glory days of old.

I agree. It's just a lot of those students haven't been tiger fans their whole lives, and don't remember the dinardo days. They think a one loss season is a disaster.

I'm not opposed to this assuming they are made available to the general student body rather than being "reserved"

I don't either. I couldn't believe for AUBRUN, FOR frickING AUBURN...that NEZ section was totally vacant at kickoff. I was amazed and embarrassed by that.

FWIW demand for student tickets isn't as high as you would think.

Pretty much how I feel about it, other than some spoiled people. It isn't their fault, but I don't think they realize what is being accomplished in TS.

There's too much bullshite to go through to get them. Not sure if it has changed, but when I started school you only got tickets for half of the home games. frick that shite.

I think LSU needs to adjust their student ticket policies.
They believe all 14,400 students that received tickets will attend every single game by themselves.
Many students have family and friends in town so they find them an ID and ticket. Its not very hard to find student tickets for sale nor borrow an ID. I would guess about 4,000 of the 14,400 tickets sold entering the LSU student section are non students (just young family members and friends of current LSU students). Its always been very common practice to borrow an ID for the family member or friend. Now they are checking IDs much more carefully and turning people away.

At the beginning of the game the gap is for the band.
