LSUs new board will be 37’x152’, as opposed to the old one that was 28’x80’.
Unless they extend further out, then 38’ of that 152’ will be for the speakers. I’ve donated to capital projects in the past and they just never seem to do things correctly. The screen will be bigger, but I’m not expecting much.
There is a reason why TAF has not released any renderings of this project. We’re 7 weeks from season opener and they finally began to comment on it.

I’m not 100% sure. The article isn’t exactly clear. But I read is as the screen being 152’ wide, plus an extra 19’ on each side for the speaker towers.

The screen in the north endzone of Tiger Stadium measures 5,624 square feet, stands 37-feet tall and measures 152-feet in width, more than doubling the size of the previous screen (28-feet x 80-feet; 2,240 square feet). In addition, two new speaker towers will flank the north board with each measuring 19-feet x 37-feet.

That’s how I read it too. I only question because the width of the framework goes from sideline to sideline. Thats roughly 50 yards and if you include the curvature of the stadium, you’d get 152’. If they were going to build out the sound towers along side of that 152’, they would have framed out an extra 19’ on both sides before going vertical. That doesn’t seem to be the case meaning the screen will be at least 38’ less. I will be pleasantly surprised if they don’t have static ad signage taking up a large percentage of the board. I’m hoping they keep those all along the base of the board, but I won’t be holding my breath.
I’m sure they did a study on whether the new sound systems would be more cost effective than doing surround sound in every section/portal.
My biggest issue (like most LSU projects) is that they’re never done in large chunks.

If you took complaining away from half the posters they would remain forever speechles.

Football fields are actually 53 yards wide. Its extremely hard to tell from this angle, but it does look like it could possibly extend just slightly beyond that distance. Add the curvature to it, I think we are close enough that it could be 152+38. That said, I also think I could make a valid argument for the opposite, as well. Who knows....

It’s not complaining. It’s tongue in cheek.
But if you walk into any LSU venue it’s slathered with ads. The cup holders at the box are sponsored by cintas

Looks much bigger. I presume the new screen will go all the way to the top of the new framing? (I know no one knows. Just thinking out loud.)

I hope so. Hoping it looks similar to Missouri’s new scoreboard

So if I'm understanding right the pieces on both sides on a angle are the speaker towers?

It’s fine I’m sure and I don’t really care because the previous one was fine but it’s odd they didn’t build the biggest in the SEC. If you are upgrading you might as well try to outdo the rest of your league. I remember reading that the back would be a screen as well or something better than it was previously. I could be mistaken though.

Ads only bother me when they take up screen space. Who cares about a cup holder? Milk ads for every dime but you can also make it look decent. Alex Box wall is an example of what not to do.

Score (small font), down and distance, and the rest nothing but eye splitting commercials.

Whoever made sure to include the dimensions reads the rant.
The marketing campaign “It Never Gets Old” is good.

Can you imagine all the static ads on that dynamic screen?
