PJ Woodland’s PFF grade was 58.1 over 36 defensive snaps.
Coverage: 62.5
Pass rush: 59.1
Run defense: 45.3
His coverage was decent, but his run defense grade pulled down his overall number.

Lane Kiffin, HC 100.0
You guys got a coach that fits.. If he establishes a dynasty yall need to get some shite on him so he can't leave.
Shouldn't be too hard.
He doesn't need to call ole miss racist. That's stupid.

Only change I want is more LA starters which hopefully Lane does as he gets settled in and wont have an exodus like after BK

Dillin was great in pass blocking. Kiffin wants bruiser backs. Harlem isn’t that and Durham has bad vision. I hope they step up and take it as a sign of improving game rather than sulking. It has to be tough seeing such high morale by everyone while your situation isn’t good

PFF is iffy. They had Nuss at 90.0+ in first few weeks last year. Makes me wonder how much bias goes into it

you sound butthurt because people don’t like you, so you’re lashing out at random.

Not a fan of PFF they are very hit or miss but the transfers showed out

His coverage was decent, but his run defense grade pulled down his overall number.
Clemson had zero rushing yards when Woodland got pulled.

overall the interior didn’t grade nearly as well as the edge players or linebackers.
I wonder why that is? I watched them in particular during the game. They plugged up holes, got push against the OL, didn’t over-pursue. Freed up space for the linebackers to do their thing.
They did their jobs and didn’t get out of position or pushed around like last year.
But, they weren’t graded much, if any, better than last year?

I agree the grade doesn’t look nearly as bad once you add the context. PFF isn’t gospel, it’s grading Woodland’s individual responsibility on each play, not how the defense performed as a whole

I think you may have answered it. The interior guys did the dirty work, held their ground, occupied blockers and kept the linebackers clean, but didn’t make many splash plays themselves. PFF may grade most of that as simply doing your job rather than a big positive. Their individual grades look ordinary, but the defense as a whole functioned much better because of what they were doing inside.

Yeah, I wanted to see how much the down lines, especially those returning, improved and in what ways from last year. So, basically McKinley on defense.
Coach O seems to have made a difference. Dom used his hands better to keep the blockers off him and get to the right holes more consistently.
Also, he doesn’t stand up out of his stance as much as last year. He gets better leverage and push.
It’s amazing how many DL coaches we’ve had that didn’t seem to make that a coaching point. Seems like they keep having to bring in Coach O or Pete Jenkins to teach these elementary techniques.
