I was about to start a thread to ask for an updat on the TM7 situation... Good idea?

Thanks sainstgirl. Seems like the scrawl and title don't reflect the content in the article.
The article is a good summary of where things stand.

What's your source that he failed a 3rd drug test? Please link.
I'm just taking the speculation of the poster I was answering and running with it.
I can link to numerous news items from last season that will indicate TM was suspended for a game for an unspecified rule violation. I can link to news items quoting 'sources' that TM was suspended from the game last year for testing positive for synthetic whacky tabacky. I can link to the LSU policy which states that the 2nd positive drug test results in suspension from games. I can link to the LSU policy that states that a 3rd positive drug test results in a year-long suspension. I can link to news items (and multiple fapping threads on this very board) that show that TM was practicing with the team up until about Thursday, meaning he was a part of the team until then and was not facing a year-long ban at that point (i.e., he didn't fail an as of yet unheard of 3rd drug test, which some posters have speculated happened). No, no one has publicly stated that he didn't fail a drug test. However, the fact that Herb Vincent backtracked the "permanent" statement by the compliance officer...and the news items stating that TM and family are seeking the one-year suspension (as outlined in LSU's 3rd offense drug policy) strongly supports the supposition that TM failed a 3rd test.
The poster I replied to strongly insinuated that TM had been warned that one more strike and he was gone from the team permanently. If he cannot provide links to back up that assertion, he should at least outline a logical reason as to why he supposes that TM was told such. I've backed up my speculation with facts that provide reasonable support for that speculation.
I'm more than willing to believe that at some point TM was told "one more frick up and you're gone forever". I just haven't seen anything (policy, news items, even anonymous sources) to back up that assumption.

What's your source for this?
There's no source either way, but as a year-long suspension was never made it stands to reason that this would be that third offense. Releasing him from the program allows him to transfer, and that may've been a mutual decision between TM7 and the coaching staff. Just speculation (like everything else vis-a-vis which rule was broken and at what level), but it is the most plausible scenario given how things have come down. At least imo and a few others here.

I say we sit him for a quarter of North Texas
he has been scared straight

I guess the point I was trying to make is that every single thing being posted about what happened to warrant the suspension is speculation. There's been nothing shared by either the university or TM that gives us the facts. It's gotten to where it seems like people are arguing that their speculation is somehow justified, but other speculation is not, and I don't get that part.

All sorts of misinformation put out and a lot of that is glen guilbeau's fault because news sources are essentially taking what he spun as fact:
ESPN.com reported early Monday that Mathieu, distraught over being booted from the Tigers, was considering returning to LSU to remain a student and sit out this season as a football player while hoping to be reinstated to play football next year.
“If Tyrann chooses to return to LSU as a student he can do that,” LSU head coach Les Miles said. “We are not speculating on anything beyond that.”
However, LSU’s senior associate athletic director for compliance, Bo Bahnsen, told Gannett Louisiana that “he’s permanently ineligible to play football at LSU. That’s definite. That’s what was said Friday.”
Bahnsen also said, regarding Mathieu’s reported desire to one day return to the team, that “he’s not accurate if he thinks that.”
But LSU officials later said that Bahnsen’s quotes were taken out of context and that “LSU did NOT announce this (that Mathieu was permanently ineligible).”
Senior associate athletic director Herb Vincent said on his Twitter account that: “To clarify: Tyrann Mathieu has the option to go to LSU as a student. LSU is not speculating on his football future.”
Meanwhile, The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., reported that Jackson State was interested in talking to Mathieu but was denied permission to talk to him by LSU.
Even though Mathieu is no longer with the Tigers, other schools still have to request permission from LSU before personally contacting him.

That tells me that Miles and alot of people want him at McNeese and no where else. Looks like they trust Viator.
Way too many connections here not to think otherwise.
If he ends up playing at the I-AA level, I'm thinking it's a 95% chance it's McNeese.

either they want him at mcneese or they are working on bringing him back.

Some people in the know say he's announcing Wednesday. He's apparently leaning towards staying at lsu for the year and coming back in 2013

Would give us cover on both sides. I like it either way. Would prefer the latter without knowing every single fact.

Don't want TM7 anywhere near JSU anyways. Don't like those guys.

I might be more upset if it turns out he can't come back than when I found out he was supposedly leaving in the first place.

Rosetta says this is because Mathieu said he's only interested in talking to McNeese and Nicholls, so he's asked LSU to deny requests from everyone else. TIFWIW.
