do you realize what kind of precedent we would be setting if they let him come back????
I'm so tired of reading this bullshite on this website. IF they let him come back they would be setting 2 very good precedents:
1. If you fail a drug test 3 times, you get suspended for a year.
2. We have a drug policy that we enforce, even if you're a Heisman finalist and one of the most dynamic football players to ever wear purple and gold.

being suspended for an entire season is a pretty harsh punishment? Please go find me all of the NCAA players who have chosen to stick around at a school rather than transferring after being told that they had to sit out a year. It doesn't happen because sitting out an entire season is a severe penalty.
My thoughts as well.

That says a lot about him if this is true
Truth. That would speak volumes to character and commitment.
IF (and it's a big IF) he could pull that off then he deserves another shot.

By that kind of logic, the white community should be outraged that a kid like JL who did everything that was asked of him and then some was continually discriminated against in favor of JJ.

Ummmmm No. Try another logic. Both blacks and whites alike thought that was bull. Most LSU fans wanted Lee to be given a better shake. No one really knows what was behind that.
Les Miles coaches LSU. Not Stump Mitchell.

If the rule they expressed was "Hey...penalty for 3rd failed drug test is a one year suspension", then I'd have no issue with it. But my understanding is that this was not the "punishment" that was designated for a 3rd failed test....not what was explained to him. You guys need to think about the bigger picture in my respectful opinion....and again...if hb7 comes back, I will be elated. I just think there will be consequences down the road, and rules wont mean shite down the road. (See the "U")

Are you being serious? Not on this site. I can't think of one black poster that thought it was bull. And did not know one IRL either. From my vantage point at least, JJ was universally supported as the started by blacks.

The people I talked to accepted the dismissal, but told me that's just the way a lot of the people there felt. I think "challenge" is a little strong. If TM7 had just transferred, it would be a non-issue. They were surprised he wanted to sit out. I told them that speaks highly of LSU that he wanted to give up playing for a year to stay, that he must really love LSU.

I've seen the drug policy. 3rd failed drug test is a one year suspension. No one has reported any knowledge of Tyrann flunking a fourth drug test. The LSU policy does not command a lifetime expulsion until the fourth failed test.

Surely how Miles handles this isn't a litmus test for how he runs his program. But if they think that, I'm not surprised and it's not a very level-headed view. Kinda desperate. But that can be what you deal with when dealing with sections like the St. Aug community.

at the end of the day I want to be in Miami watching LSU play Jan 9.

It could be LSU already bent the rules after a 3rd failed test, and thus lifetime Ineligibility was handed down. But if TM offers to sit a year then they're a bit confused how to handle it. It's all speculation at this point.
I just hope TM gets his life straightened out if he has serious drug problems, learns from his mistake, and has a great and long football career. Selfishly, I hope he does this at LSU so my kids and I can watch him play in P&G some more.

It didn't neccessarily mean ""he didn't give a shite'', when he was doing weed, but besides the high he probably got blinded by a false sense of doing something that bonded him emotionally with Friends when he wasn't doing football. Hopefully he now realizes it 's a false and failing euthophic activity.

That's the rule as outlined in the LSU drug policy that all of the athletes sign. Most people believe that when TM7 was told he'd have to sit for the year, he told them that he'd rather transfer, which is what led to the presser Friday. Of course, that's all speculation but very believable.

What's your source for this? The published penalty for 3 failed drug tests is one year suspension. Please link to where TM was told/warned after his 2nd positive test that his 3rd positive would result in a harsher punishment than the published policy for student athletes.

when did Louisiana get so uptight?
It is weed. Can you honestly say you care minus he knew it was the rule and he broke it?
The only reason I would care is the risk that a kid gets arrested and embarrases the university. In regards to crimes though weed < beating the shite out of your gf or dwi

Exactly! It was no more black vs white than Tyrann's current situation. Anyone who tries to make it more than it is, i.e. a racial issue is way off base.
I've said my peace. I will now refrain from offering any further thoughts on why I believe it's ridiculous for people to make a race issue out of a non race issue for fear someone will perceive these thoughts as some sort of racial slight.
