First T-Bob and now Tate

Seriously, Tate did a great job here and I was skeptical at first. He will be missed and good luck to him.

Bring Stephen Moret home. It would be the home run hire. PhD, LSU grad, knows economic development and higher ed.

ok now we're getting somewhere

What dei actions has Tate been involved in besides being called a DEI hire?

I truly want to know, bc I'm not in Louisiana

There’s more to the university than athletics. LSU has skyrocketed in research under Tate and that has brought money and recognition to the university. The average GPA’s and ACT’s in incoming classes continues to increase. The university has received a record amount of grants and funding for other projects also. What about that isn’t prospering?

Kelly could go 6-6 next season and LSU does not have $50+ million to do anything about it.

Thank Gawd!

Does this mean that math can go back to being non-racist on the LSU campus?

I can't see LSU forking over $50M plus whatever it would take to buy out the assistants just because Kelly doesn't make the playoffs, plus hire a new head coach and staff, all coming at a time when they have to pay out $20.5M to athletes in revenue sharing.

LSU's boosters aren't going to pay that kind of money, and they're the ones who would be tasked with all the buyouts. Not happening. This ain't Texas A&M.

Gov Landry ain’t going to endorse that move. Not saying it wouldn’t be a good hire, but it won’t have the Governor’s backing.

This just isn’t true. He’s leaving LSU in an infinitely better position than he received it.

You all can hyperbole the accomplishments of Tate all you want. LSU admissions went to shite under Tate. Tate/ LSU has done zero keeping Louisiana's best in state. Way too many good students went to other state universities in the Southeast and Texas who would have other wised stayed with just a little effort or incentive.

Lol....liberals gonna defend liberals at all costs. He literally wrote the book on DEI. I'm not even debating this, it is pointless
You think a guy that got his PhD based off of DEI is 180 degrees from supporting DEI....you can't make this up.

Landry certainly wants his own candidate. It remains to be seen how much push back Landry gets from big LSU supporters. Lots of those supporters would endorse Moret, because of his work at LED and in Northern Virginia.

Moret makes significantly more money that Tate was making and may not have an interest. Also, his family may want to stay in in that area.

It will be an interesting next few months.

You got 10 downvotes....the conservatives are out working hard right now while the democrats are waiting for their checks at the mailbox. Makes sense.

nor CFB, especially from a historical LSU perspective.

Based on the program’s performance this century, 9.9 wins is exactly our average. We have averaged 3 losses during that time. Both numbers ignore the COVID season as an outlier in play and number of games.

We have won 10+ games in a row for multiple seasons only 4 times in program history, all in this century (partially because the number of games has increase to 11 and 12 over time), but a 4 year run is a long as we’ve ever sustained it. We also had one 3 year stretch and two 2 year stretches, and one of those is under Kelly. That’s it. Also consider that the SEC has only gotten stronger top to bottom since then and everyone has money now.

Do we all want to be better than this historical average- yes. Does LSU the potential to be better- absolutely. But don’t distort the facts to fit some rosy, fantasy narrative of 2000-2019, and especially the history before that. We’ve always been good to very good other than for most of the 90s, but we have never sustained greatness for more than one season at a time. That’s just the honest truth and the numbers spell that out very plainly.

Considering we have played for the NC four times during that period, and won 3....I'll take the next 19 years exactly how that period played out.

This has been happening LONG before Tate. Every University prioritizes out of state students.

Even in the SEC LSU is in the middle of the pack, or lower, academically......so it is not surprising that high functioning kids go elsewhere. I love lsu but thatbis fact.

His background made it seem like this is what he might do here, but that just wasn’t the case in reality. He got behind our athletic programs and did a good job in improving research and academic metrics pretty much across the board during his tenure. He did an objectively good to very good job, and on the heels of a buffoon in Alexander. Because he didn’t overly push own perceived personal and political agendas in his role at LSU, I give him credit for a good job and hate that he’s leaving.
