I would assume CPM has some pre-determinations but in game flow can adjust that.

as I just said in the other thread...
CPM is not going to put himself in the position where an injury to Slaughter forces the loss of the DH and pitcher(s) being forced into the batting order, or quick end to a pitcher's day for a PH (which is what would happen if Coomes is DHing and suddenly has to go into the field to play defense)

So you're ok with the lead off hitter being an automatic out today? Watson is the only consistent hitter we have right now. They would rather pitch to Deichmann right now than Watson.
