Wait so do you or don't you think Les Miles would be 3-0?
Not no...but hell no...try 1-2

I'd like to think Les wouldn't have lost to Troy (although he almost did) or MSU last year.
But, when you're right, you're right - instead of 2 straight wins against Auburn, we probably would have suffered 2 straight losses.
I'm not 100% cool with everything in the O era. He's whiffed on a couple of doosies in recruiting (clearly his strongest skillset, overall). Having said that- he's done 3 great things at the transition (4 if you count firing Cameron as his very first move as HC):
1. Retain Aranda (admittedly a coach Les hired)
2. Rebuild both lines (still have a way to go, but much, much improved)
3. Increased staff capacity by increasing the consultants to more closely mirror Bama.
Now, we still need things - a feature back, a HS QB who can play day 1 (many other schools are finding them - that's the new game, we need to find some, too), long-term a modern offensive coordinator (and my bonafides as a Steven Ensminger fan are unquestionable), etc., but we're doing better than Miles would have done at this point, IMHO.
And the foundation appears solid, although, again, not crazy with some of the recruiting misses the past couple of years.

He was one second away from beating them 2 years ago, so no I cant admit that
You say that like it was an accomplishment.
The only thing accomplished is that HE lost the game for his team.

Les Miles shows why it's obvious he flunked Clock Management 101 in coach's school.
Can at least one assistant coach please sit down and help Les Miles understand this area of coaching?

The clock debacle at the end of Saturday's loss at Auburn wasn't the worst part of the defeat for Miles. The worst part is that his team lost a game in which the opponent couldn't even reach the end zone.
quote:
LSU started its final trip inside the red zone against Auburn with 58 seconds left on the clock. It was second down and there was plenty of time to score a game-winning touchdown.
Tick.
Two plays later, the Tigers made a first down at the 14. But that trip consumed 30 seconds of clock time.
Tick. Tick.
Quarterback Danny Etling was then sacked by Carl Lawson and LSU was forced to take its final timeout. One play later, Etling completed a 10-yard pass to Malachi Dupre to advance LSU to the 10-yard line.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
But 15 seconds ran off the clock by the time Etling completed a pass short of the end zone. Fortunately, LSU was flagged for an illegal shift, giving the Tigers one second to launch a pass for the end zone.
It was caught. LSU seemed to have the most improbable of victories. But after further review, the play was overturned because the ball was not snapped before time expired.
After this latest clock management blunder, Les Miles’ clock might have finally run out, too.

Les would not have lost to florida in16 or troy in 17. Everything else is the same

I'll concede he may have lost the auburn game last week, but wouldn't have lost to troy or ND last year. So better record for Les overall
But who really knows...? Lol

I can go with this.

If we're going back to 2016...les wouldn't have lost to UF

It is just another thread for the O guys that keep fighting some imaginary Les Miles shadow as if they have to trash him at every turn in order to make O look good. It is so weird and I don't get it.

I know this is a pure speculation thread, but I'm not sure how you can say this. To me, the ND loss year was eerily similar to the ND loss in the Music City bowl and the Penn St. loss in the Capital One bowl.

i am probably the farthest thing from an O guy. i have been banned multiple times for bashing him

I'm amazed how people forget some of the magic that the Hat pulled out of his arse at times. Miles might have lost this one but he probably wins some other game that he shouldn't.

Huh? The OP of this thread is definitely NOT an O guy.

I don't know that I agree. Les would have beat UF in 2016. I think he beats Troy and ND in 2017 and possibly Mississippi State.
But this is a classic who knows. Saban went 9-3 in 2004, Les went 11-2 in 2005 with all of the hurricane upheaval and lack of a bye week. Would Saban have done as well? Who knows? Would Butch Davis have won the NC Larry Coker won? Could Bill Belichick win with the Browns (the second time around)? Can anyone fix the Saints defense? If Greg Norman had played with Stuart Appleby rather than Nick Faldo would he have won the 1996 Masters? How many majors does Rod Laver win if he plays in the Open Era? If Tiger doesn't chase women does he win 18 majors?

You and I are now disowned by the CheeriOs and the NegaTigers. The two of us, and Lunatik, need to come up with a new faction name.

agree with most all you said but success breeds success. If O keeps this train going, the recruits will come back.
You can't blame a kid for bailing when there was that much uncertainty swirling around the program.

I know that. I didn't mean that directed at you. I am looking at the usual people that show up in these type of threads with their orgeron inferiority complex
