Contracts, contracts, contracts. You need agreements between the conferences to honor contracts and to not "employ" players that breach a contract until the next season. Let players organize and get a collective bargaining agreement just like the NFL.

The kid knows his value.

College sports are professional sports mate, same as it ever was it's just out in the open now.
And now labor has won the battle for player agency.
These men are old enough to die in war for the USA, they are sure as hell old enough to negotiate working conditions and compensation.

Is UNLV sending him a W-2 or 1099 at the end of the year?

my company employs subcontractors to provide labor which is all at-will.
if we don't like the people they send, we run them off. if the people they send don't like us or the work, they drag up. if our sub doesn't pay them, they inevitably leave the subcontracted company and we wait for backfills or do without.
UNLV will be doing without it seems, and should better vet their NIL partners if what is being claimed is true.

They won't though. It will continue going in the wrong direction. Ultimately the fans will be the ones to pay for it, and at some point they gonna say no more...and then they are all screwed. I agree on the better way...but this was a dem backed proposal through congress if I'm not mistaken....and everything they touch turns to shite.
this has already started in forms like "student activity fees" that are being charged strictly to pay for NIL. Make no mistake, this is not just about wealthy boosters money, this cost WILL get passed to all of us.

Not sure about his situation but this will be or is a future problem. These are professional players now who are paid good money and given a free education . Some thing has to be done ; contracts have to be upheld or stipulate if paid can not transfer to another team for a year etc.
That's the next step. College football is basically a semi-pro league with free college courses now.

College sports is dead. It’s over.
This people have been saying this for decades. At this point predicting “the end of college football” has become just as cliche as predicting “the end of the world”. No one ever gets either one correct but hey, law of averages says EVENTUALLY someone will be so keep trying. You may win the lottery

For all we know, guy could have just hated that he agreed to a lowball deal and wanted a bigger one.
So if you found out people in your job title were making waaaay more money at every other company you telling me you wouldn’t be looking to get on at one of those companies? You telling me that if one of those companies offered you a job making more money you would tell them you need to give your current employer a years notice?
Y’all have got to stop looking at this as something more than a job to these players. Thats all it is for most of them.

Not students anymore; mercenaries going to the highest bidder. Paid employees now with all kinds of creative BS going on such as ticket player fee, or whatever. College football is committing suicide.

This guy has completed 44% of his passes and is averaging 106 passing yards per game. Sounds like the school isn't the only one not upholding their end of the bargain.

I am surprised these schools aren’t getting non-competes on the high dollar athletes.
Non competes are not as strong as you’d think.
almost every state frowns on limiting someone’s ability to work.
As to the OP, if he was promised money, and isn’t being paid said money, then he should absolutely quit.
how many of you would keep working for an employer who doesn’t pay you?

That’s their M O. Tenn.already started.
Will the schools curb spending? How many assistants does Kim Mulkey and Matt McMahon need? How many analysts does Brian Kelly need? Do we need a head coach, two assistants and a Director of Operations for our women’s volleyball team?

Alabama had a huge staff and they are paying players.
these things are fulled by rich boosters who can’t own the team but can still throw money at it as a hobby.

one of the big issues that makes everyone short sighted is that the only numbers that ever gets reported is the money coming in, and never the expenses of operating college athletics.
You are grossly misrepresenting the numbers. $669 million was distributed back to the 363 Division I member schools. That is just NCAA revenue. That doesn't include the revenue that each school is raking in themselves. Yes, some schools make significantly more than others. But make no mistake that each school is making MUCH more today than ever.

LSU reported approximately 200 million dollars in revenue last year. That includes revenues from NCAA tournaments.
