Underappreciated skill Etling has: his eyes

If you look at his completion percentages, he doesn't look much better than Harris, yet the offense is significantly more productive with him at QB. One of the big reasons is that he creates space for his receivers with his eyes.

For example, look at this pass he made to Smith saturday. Skip to the 1 minute mark and watch him keep his eyes on the middle of the field to keep the linebackers in their position and allow Smith to get open on the edge.

He doesn't directly look at his target until right before he throws the ball.

He's not the most physically gifted guy but he knows the game and makes the most out of his opportunities

This may have been lost amid all the drama post Auburn game, or maybe I just missed it, but was he wearing red contacts for that game?? If so, I am disappoint

Well BHarris was at 52% when he was benched, and Etling is at 59% right now. He's ahead of Harris with a season less experience with this team, and I think he's had a lot more drops than Harris. Also his misses are near misses, not air ball/rockets into the stands.

But I agree with everything else, I'm not surprised with Etling looking off DBs and LBs, he's got it together, he knows how to play the position for us. Don't screw it up just keep us moving.

Yep, I griped about BH's eyes making it harder on everyone in the offense, especially the WRs. Sept 13 post

They're not dreamy during the games, he wears tinted contacts. Maybe that's why his pocket vision is better than Harris.

This also happened on the second touchdown pass to Malachi Dupre. He looked to his left and then came back to Dupre in the back of the endzone.

Yep. Even a quick glance by BH would have shown him how tight the coverage was near the line for Dupre and how far off the DB was on Dural... on a crucial 3rd down play!

Watch the late TD in the back of the end zone by Dupre.

DE looks left at two different receivers then back right at Dupree. Within a half second of looking at Dupree he zips one in a tight window.
