USC? I didn't know USL played Southern California in 2000.

I do too. Not sure why some people think it's a bad move.

Yep. I have a problem with a small percentage of the ULL fan base (you know what I'm talking about) but the majority aren't like that.

I think we will get past Sam Houston with our pitching and if our bats heat up early enough it'll be an easy game. Comparing the stats, it's going to be about hitting early and often.

As far as Saturday's game is concerned, I think Austin will hold his own...may not be a complete game but he'll be fine. He's a smart kid and will have to use every ounce of that to entice lsu's batters. Can't wait! Should be an awesome weekend at The Box.

Makes sense if you ask me. Take the risk in game 1. If they win they get Robichaux in game 2. If they lose they pitch him in game 3. They really wouldnt need to pitch him vs JS if they lose to SHS. Then take your chances against LSU.

Smart move by Coach Robichaux. I'm around some Tiger fans where I work that are very confident we win 3 in a row. I keep trying to tell them...this is Baseball - anything can and does happen. Some feel we can play bad and still win...I just don't understand.

They don't want to listen...

May the Baseball Gods shine upon the Tigers this weekend...

They're gonna get by SHS easily with their #2 guy. It's not gonna be close IMO. Very easy decision for TR

But see this still doesn't accomplish what the whole goal of holding Robichaux till they could play LSU was. Even if they hold him again, beat Jackson st. with somebody else, they still will face (hopefully if we beat them tonight) Sam Houston in the elimination game tomorrow and he still will not get to throw against LSU which I thought was the whole point of this in the first place.

Where are you? You're all up in just about every thread this whole last week, and now you're nowhere to be found?

“We will probably go with Austin [Robichaux] tomorrow,” Robichaux said. “We will come out and get after it and get ourselves back in this thing.

This was not going to be an easy regional anyway. You are playing one of the better teams in the country in one of the toughest venues in the country.”

BASES NOTED: Louisiana had a two-game win streak in NCAA Regional round openers snapped with the 4-2 defeat…The Cajuns had won opening round games in 2007 at College Station and 2010 in Austin in the previous two appearances… Louisiana had scored five-plus runs each of the previous 13 games in May and entered the Baton Rouge Regional averaging 9.9 runs per game during the month…Dex Kjerstad has produced multiple hits in eight of the past nine contests, a streak that dates back to second game of South Alabama doubleheader on May 12…Kjerstad increased his season hits total to 96 moving him within five hits of tying the single-season record 101 set by Nathan Nelson in 2000…Seth Harrison, the team leader with nine bunt singles, picked up his ninth sacrifice bunt in the third inning moving him into a tie with Blake Trahan for team lead…Later in the game, Ryan Leonards picked up his ninth sacrifice bunt to move into a three-way tie with Trahan and Harrison… Matt Hicks made is team-leading 29th appearance taking over for Ryan Wilson in the sixth inning…Hicks is now one appearance shy of becoming the first Cajun pitcher with 30 appearances since Danny Farquhar (30) in 2007…The relief appearance by Matt Hicks was the 70th of his career and he is now one appearance from moving into the Top 5 on the career charts for games pitched in school history.

Bad strategy.

You never want to risk going 2 and out without your ace having seen the mound.

Meh, it's a 50/50 gamble. He'll look stupid as hell if they lose today.

And that's not entirely out of the realm of possibility either.

If I recall correctly, Robichaux has been in this situation before. He went with the same strategy, and it bit him in the arse.

For a smart person, good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.

I think we pretty much see why Robichaux will finish out his career at ULL.
