re: ULL Coach: "LSU Probably Doesn't Want to Play this Game"
If y’all are looking for a better system I would go regional! This what I would propose if I was governor!

LSU system
LSU-Flagship
SELA
UNO
LSUA

UL-System
Louisiana-Flagship
McNeese
Nichols
NSULA
Take Lourdes facility put med school in Lafayette.

LaTech system
Tech-Flagship
ULM
Grambling
LSUS
transfer med school in Shreveport to this system

Southern-system same

SUNO, LSUE closed

The three Flagship UL, Tech, LSU would be the only schools to have Master, and Doctorate programs that way we do not have duplicate programs. The rest of the schools are bachelor programs. And everything feeds into those three schools.

Law School only Southern, and LSU

Wait, so if Coach Wade got a C grade for what he did with this year's team, what grade did you give Johnny for last year's performance... And more importantly what grade did you give him for the year he had a one of a kind player?

B to B+, considering the players he had.

Ben Simmons was a one-and-down that wasn't exactly all in on the LSU program.

A B for 2 wins in the conference? For the players he had? Who's job is it to get those players?

And a C for Wade for improving the players on the same team and making it to the NIT as a 3 seed.

I think he was making those statements as rhetorical questions responding to my grades.

There will only ever be one flagship. Give it up already

LSU has blocked LaTech and Louisiana to have a med or law school!!

It would be absurd to add another law school. Louisiana already has four. The demographics and job market don’t support another school. Law schools have been fighting shrinking enrollment and rising costs. It is a good thing that another school wasn’t added.

The costs of an additional med school, when there are already three in state is not in any way justified.

There was a time when universities saw law schools as a money making proposition. That is no longer the case for many universities.

Do you forget that the only pharmacy school in the state is at ULM?

The costs of another med school in the state is not justified. Also there is no good reason to transfer the Shreveport med school to the other system. A single board with experience is much more sensible than duplicating the experience and and expertise on another board just to make someone feel better.

re: ULL Coach: "LSU Probably Doesn't Want to Play this Game"
Tulane is private so we can’t count that !

Second there is only two those are the ones that are runned by LSU!

The one in Shreveport should go to Tech, and UL should have one also under the system I propose.

Law school that’s already there between Southern and LSU in Baton Rouge. Tulane is private so we do not need another Law School

This would be hard, but under the system I propose ULM would have to be over Tech system. The Tech system is to decide either keep that pharmacy program at ULM or move it to the LaTech in Ruston.

Better system organization proposal

Louisiana State University, BR, Alexandria (2-years only), Shreveport (4-years), Southern (4 years)

University of North Louisiana, Ruston (4-yr), Monroe (4-year with pharmacy school), Natchitoches (2-yr), with Grambling merged into the Ruston campus

University of South Louisiana, Lafayette (4-yr), Lake Charles (2-yr), Thibodaux (2-yr), Hammond (4-yr)

University of New Orleans, UNO, Delgado, SUNO and any other public venue in GNO.

Master's and EdD's at four main campuses only (Ruston, Lafayette, BR, and NO)

Master's and all Doctorates (except EdD's) only in BR

This is still too many programs, honestly. Furthermore, Louisiana will only ever have one flagship, and that is LSU. ULL and La Tech will never be designated as flagships. I would even argue there is no need for two (three) systems. It's wasteful to have three systems with three different overhead needs when one should suffice.

LSU
LSU-S
ULL
La Tech
UNO
Southern (to appease a certain demographic)

That's plenty to go around. Furthermore, not all of those schools should have every program under the sun. For example, if you want to major in Engineering, your options are LSU or La Tech. We need to cut down on program redundancy.

You'd see budgets for all of these schools skyrocket as the State would no longer be supporting 15+ Universities.

re: ULL Coach: "LSU Probably Doesn't Want to Play this Game"
Private or public really isn’t the issue. The question whether there is a need. As someone who is intimately familiar by virtue of my job with issues dealing with law schools, there is no need for an additional law school. And the last place that needs a law school is Ruston, as nice a town as Ruston is, and as nice a school Tech is. The demand and need aren’t there.

There is no particular reason for putting the med schools under different boards. So can you explain what actual benefit would be achieved by separate governing boards?

Med schools are the most expensive programs in a university. There is absolutely no justifiable reason for adding another public med school. The prestige of having a med school or law school isn’t a legitimate justification for creating a new law school or med school.

re: ULL Coach: "LSU Probably Doesn't Want to Play this Game"
Under the three systems curriculum would be designed and geared towards the Master and Doctorate programs for the top three universities.

So if I wanted to go for say a Doctor, well
Say UL-System
McNeese, Nichols, NSULA, would have curriculum designed to prepare yourself to go to the Med School at UL-Lafayette. Which would help students be more successful

Every Bachelor program would be geared and curriculum decided, and designed for each Master and Doctorate program for that system for that particular school.

So let’s just say I was a student in High School, I went for Teaching, I did not have tha grades to get into LSU, I can go to SELA, get my bachelors, well I was successful, and wanted to go for Education Leadership so I can become a principle. I would then go to LSU,

The curriculum was already geared towards Education Leadership when you going to SELA to be a teacher.

Lol so 1 bill that didn't even come close to passing through the "LSU" controlled legislator is your answer

It's can't be stated enough that LSU athletics receives NO state funds and not only pays for all of its costs for all sports teams-- it actually writes checks back to the university. So using this bill as some sort of proof that the school get perks that other schools don't is laughable considering they would be exempt because they literally don't accept ANY state funding, therefore they can do whatever they want they pay there on way!! And I am not even saying LSU doesn't get preferential treatment of course they do, thy are the flagship, but this was a horrible example.

So since LSU is self-funded, let's handcuff everyone else by limiting the distance where their athletic programs travel. If you don't see something wrong with this, then I can't help you.
