It would be absurd to add another law school. Louisiana already has four. The demographics and job market don’t support another school. Law schools have been fighting shrinking enrollment and rising costs. It is a good thing that another school wasn’t added.
The costs of an additional med school, when there are already three in state is not in any way justified.
There was a time when universities saw law schools as a money making proposition. That is no longer the case for many universities.

The costs of another med school in the state is not justified. Also there is no good reason to transfer the Shreveport med school to the other system. A single board with experience is much more sensible than duplicating the experience and and expertise on another board just to make someone feel better.

Tulane is private so we can’t count that !
Second there is only two those are the ones that are runned by LSU!
The one in Shreveport should go to Tech, and UL should have one also under the system I propose.
Law school that’s already there between Southern and LSU in Baton Rouge. Tulane is private so we do not need another Law School

This would be hard, but under the system I propose ULM would have to be over Tech system. The Tech system is to decide either keep that pharmacy program at ULM or move it to the LaTech in Ruston.

This is still too many programs, honestly. Furthermore, Louisiana will only ever have one flagship, and that is LSU. ULL and La Tech will never be designated as flagships. I would even argue there is no need for two (three) systems. It's wasteful to have three systems with three different overhead needs when one should suffice.

That's plenty to go around. Furthermore, not all of those schools should have every program under the sun. For example, if you want to major in Engineering, your options are LSU or La Tech. We need to cut down on program redundancy.
You'd see budgets for all of these schools skyrocket as the State would no longer be supporting 15+ Universities.

Private or public really isn’t the issue. The question whether there is a need. As someone who is intimately familiar by virtue of my job with issues dealing with law schools, there is no need for an additional law school. And the last place that needs a law school is Ruston, as nice a town as Ruston is, and as nice a school Tech is. The demand and need aren’t there.
There is no particular reason for putting the med schools under different boards. So can you explain what actual benefit would be achieved by separate governing boards?
Med schools are the most expensive programs in a university. There is absolutely no justifiable reason for adding another public med school. The prestige of having a med school or law school isn’t a legitimate justification for creating a new law school or med school.

It's can't be stated enough that LSU athletics receives NO state funds and not only pays for all of its costs for all sports teams-- it actually writes checks back to the university. So using this bill as some sort of proof that the school get perks that other schools don't is laughable considering they would be exempt because they literally don't accept ANY state funding, therefore they can do whatever they want they pay there on way!! And I am not even saying LSU doesn't get preferential treatment of course they do, thy are the flagship, but this was a horrible example.

So since LSU is self-funded, let's handcuff everyone else by limiting the distance where their athletic programs travel. If you don't see something wrong with this, then I can't help you.
