Stupid fricker released the ball. CANNOT claim interference if it happened after the ball was released. WTF???

Um what? Either go to replay or get tossed
Get tossed because your player messed up and the ump made the right call?

Can’t argue the right call. Morgan has to slide. End of story

Just to reiterate, this game is NOT tied thanks to an amazing, unheralded play in RF. Thanks, Pearson.

He did play that one well
I didn’t see it, what’d he do?
And you’d be the guy to ask about this. I’m from West Monroe and even though I never played with his dad, I was close enough in age to have seen him play and been around him a bit (dad, not Josh). So even though I didn’t live in WM by the time they got to high school, I was vaguely aware of the Pearson brothers 4 or 5 years ago. The 1st time I remember hearing anything about Josh specifically, I wanna say he went like 4-4 with 2 home runs in the championship series against Barbe. As a freshman SS. His dad’s not very tall, and since he throws RH, I assumed he projected somewhere in the infield.
So when I went back and watched him play in person a couple of years ago and he was in CF, I was a bit surprised. I know he’s fast and maybe that team may have had some slick middle infielders, but if anybody’s body type looks like it projects to 2B (or 3B) in college and beyond, it’s him. Kinda like Dugas, corner OFers just aren’t typically that short and stocky.
Do you know why he left the IF, and where he projects the rest of his LSU career and beyond? Did he get reps at 2nd or 3rd in the fall? Where’d he play in the summer? I’m just thinking about the next 2 years here and the classes we have coming in. His bat’s not coming out of the lineup until after the ‘24 season, but where’s he gonna play? Is he just playing OF to help the team or does he have some sort of limitation keeping hm out of the infield?

I assume Morgan doesn't want to slide, because he is playing injured? If so, then he needs to pull out of the way completely.

No he obviously leaned out of the way of the throw, which wasn’t at all affected by his presence.
You have to absolutely explode on that as a coach

Yes because Morgan didn't slide.
Is it a rule that you have to slide into a base? I don’t think it is.

Collins now pitching for the Tigers
top 6, Harber leading off against Collins
low, 1-0
strike, 1-1
inside, 2-1
swing and a miss, 2-2
inside, may have hit him... will be reviewed
call stands, no HBP, full count
foul, 3-2
foul, 3-2
single up the middle

He doesn’t have to slide if he’s obviously out and doesn’t want to risk his knee
He has to get out of the way one way or another. He can't just stand in front of the guy trying to throw the ball.

Having to slide

No requirement to slide, but at the same time, he can’t interfere with the throw.
Posted on 4/30/22 at 3:55 pm to DeathValley85
he either has to slide or peel off out of the way
Posted on 4/30/22 at 3:55 pm to USAFTiger42
That was just stupid by Morgan. A lot like the dumb base running by Pearson in the first.
Posted on 4/30/22 at 3:56 pm to geauxtigers33
Not that simple. He could have trailed off like he did last week. You do not have to slide, you can trail off out of the way. He could’ve done that.

But it was thrown already!!!!! Doesn't matter if he slid or not. Ball was gone from the play.

He did peel out of the way
Posted on 4/30/22 at 3:58 pm to deaux
Ball never touched him. Replay is clear.

You’re wrong. He ducked at the last second and the 2nd basemen making the turn was obviously affected by him. Doesn’t matter if he was going to be safe anyways. The only person to criticize on that play is Morgan.
