I don’t know about that. He would have been huge, but the offense and Mett didn’t really take off until Jeremy Hill burst on the scene in the SC game.... once it was known that Hill became a game breaker , Mett became a much more comfortable QB.....

Well, we averaged over 30 points a game on offense and scored over 40 9 times.

Idk about 2011, but I’d argue that if he played the 2012 season & had the same production he may have pulled it off. That was the year Manti fricking Teo of all people was being hyped as a Heisman candidate.

Yea but if you look back ole Catfish was riding a wave of attention created by TM the year before. TM was the talk of the country and the national media were reaching for another golden goose for the networks.

If he played 2012 and had the same production, he'd not only have won the Heisman, there would now be a Mathieu Award for most disruptive playmaker on defense.

And no, I'm not joking. Mathieu was doing shite you can't do in video games with a cheat code. If he does that in consecutive years, he becomes an alltime great.

if he doesn’t smoke and get suspended before the AU game.

This. This is why he didn’t win. It is known.

The fact he got suspended for a drug policy violation AND it was a top 25 SEC West game really hurt him. Not only did it almost assure they wouldn’t vote for him for political reasons, he had one game less to pad his season.

But I haven’t seen a non QB have a season like that in college football as an adult. He swung so many games that year on his own and once he got going, that LSU team fed off that momentum.

It was at least a minor concession to how amazing his season was that they STILL made him a finalist as a defensive back who got suspended for a big divisional matchup for pot.

The Heisman has become a joke

While Winston shows that the Heisman has no integrity or dignity, the real confirmation the award is a joke was when Jacob Coker, who’d only completed three passes at FSU (to best best of my memory) and was then included on the preseason “Heisman Watch List” after he transferred to bama. Hell, he could’ve played his way onto that list during the season, but there was literally ZERO on-the-field evidence to support that he was or could be the best player in all of college football. I will never give even the smallest shite about who wins it, unless it’s an LSU player, in which case the award would be irrefutably given to the most deserving player.

The Coker watch list event was based solely on the hype of Jimbo vouching that he’s a good player and Saban smiling his countenance down upon thee.

The whole thing is a fricking joke. Tyrann was the best player in all of college football in 2011. Period.

LSU should have beaten the brakes off of Okie State in the NC game, too.

The 2011 team is the greatest college football team of all time and it's not close.

IMO, if he had returned that 2nd punt for TD in SEC championship vs Georgia, he would have won the heisman.

Georgia made a shoe string saving tackle. Even though he didn’t score TD, that’s one of my favorite plays of all time.

He was breaking ankles all over the field on that return.

He should have.

But, like saban always does to hyped superstars like tebow, fournette, and honey badger, that frick always keys on the game’s biggest stars and doesn’t allow them to go off against him. Minus clemson’s qb’s and cam newton
