Same. He needs some sort of redemption in his own life.

Same here. Afraid the temptations and devils in his life will only get exponentially larger with fame and fortune coming his way. Hope he finds peace and can stay on the right track.

What amazes me is many of the same people that want him to succeed have no issue bashing JR for his attempt.

One threw away his LSU career because he only cared about himself
One threw away his NFL career because he only cared about himself

If you are going to shite on one might as well other and if praise one might as well other. But alas the rant isn't going to make sense ever

That and the fact that most NFL scouts rely on their own hand time rather than the laser times.

Glad to hear he's working hard, but that 40-time isn't going to turn many heads. He'll need a low 4.4 or better to avoid being a mid-round pick.

not sure if serious. If he runs anything under a 4.5 at the combine somebody will pick him up in the 1st 60 picks that's a guarantee. I don't care what they say because in the end no one in the nfl gives a damn if you smoked weed in college. Half the nfl players smoke weed in the off season. justin bieber and michael plelps smoke weed 2.

everyone smokes weed.

I think he could have helped his draft status a little if he would have played somewhere this past season though.

He will get an opportunity somewhere, and he's still a special talent. The only thing that has really changed for him is his initial payday. He'll have to earn his way to a bigger payday with his second contract. Of course a lot has to happen between then and now.

Right or wrong, the conception is that Mathieu was derailed by off field stuff; he always gave 100% of himself to playing football on the field. By contrast, Russell was derailed by off field stuff and didn't give a shite about playing football; not only was he stupid but he was also lazy.

Plus, its harder to hate on a 20 year old kid trying to make it than it is to hate on a late 20s guy that made millions while failing on the field and not caring.

But not while at LSU, he was committed then and never had an issue when he was a player. Not sure what the last comment is about honestly, JR may have been lazy but the "stupid" comment blows me out of the water since he did graduate from LSU eventually and he isn't broke so he did not blow his money on a lot of dumb things like Vince Young did.

by his own choosing, it isn't like circumstances were unforeseen. He as given ample opportunities to clean up and he made the decision to be selfish and do what he wanted at the hindrance of the team.

Yea that would be random, but man that would be great for him. I'm sure PP7 would be able to keep him focused once he starts getting that NFL money.

a 4.47 hand timed 40 isn't all that impressive. he'll run a 4.55+ at the combine with that number. honestly, people just need to accept the fact he's gonna be a 4th round+ pick. he has a ton of question marks as to what position he'll play and he doesn't have the natural physical advantages to make up for it. add that to his off the field behavior, you have yourself a late round draft pick.

there is no one projecting him as a top 2 round pick. look at a guy like montee ball. guy rushed for over 1800 yards and 20 tds the past 2 season, was a hesiman finalist, and won the doak walker award, yet no one is projecting him higher than a 3rd round grade. why? because he's undersized and has average speed for his position. this happens all the time. there are plenty of studs in college that don't get drafted high, or at all, because they flat out don't have all the natural tools nfl execs want. and it would be stupid for a gm to waste a high draft pick on a player who's ceiling doesn't project as highly as others still on the board.

I get what you are saying but Russell making the choices he made as an NFL QB I view as both stupid and lazy.

Have to applaud his time at LSU and hopefully it isn't too late for him to right himself.

That to me is the key, he didn't make the selfish decisions while at LSU that hurt LSU. To me what he did in the NFL doesn't even matter because he was no longer wearing a uniform so therefore TM7 doing what he did would be worse. He was given several opportunities to come back and continued to make selfish choices just for himself.
