90% of people from Louisiana drink & drive. I would like to think less than 5% would steal from a store. It's a question of ethics

Uh, no.

It is pretty crazy to think that a dwi is the lesser offense of the two.

If someone off the basketball team did this...the rant wouldn't be so easy on them.

why, because it's an lsu player? if a player from another sec school did this, most people here would call him a criminal/thug.

What makes you say that? What's the difference?

do you ever understand my point?

i didn't know he had previous run-ins. My statement is irrelevant because of that.

DWI is much more severe even without previous run-ins, IMO.

Well thats how several posters including myself understood you when you said:

so if you get a dwi, you are kicked off the team immediately. but if you steal, you get suspended for 1 game?

No problem.

So, what was your point? If you agree that a DWI is a much worse infraction than minor shoplifting, then it would follow that the DWI would receive the harsher punishment, right?

like i said, my comment was predicated that it was their 1st violations.

stealing is pretty serious, obviously not on the level of DWI. But making him sit out only 1 game wouldn't have matched up with his previous disciplinary punishments. Maybe 10 games or so would have sufficed.

again though, i didnt realize Koziol had previous infractions on his record. That's why i questioned it, for it didnt make sense to me.

It shouldn't be a story because no one hears about someone stealing less than 3 bucks worth of anything. It is only newsworthy BECAUSE he is an LSU player. If he was a normal student instead of an LSU player, no one would ever had heard about this happening.

Yeah if he was a normal student he wouldn't have got a slap on the wrist. It is a story because he is in the publics eye and represents LSU.

FWIW: I'm a former LSU student, lived on campus, had a student loan, didn't have a pot to piss in back then, but I didn't go around stealing. It is a sign of his character, or the lack of. I think PM's punishment fit the crime and it has been handled properly. With it getting out in piblic maybe it will deter him from doing it again.
