With the deep secondary we have, I wouldn't care who is starting. It will be very exciting to watch.

Can't wait for our new defensive set...
3 DL
8 DB

Robinson, White and Mills will start. Thomas will play significant minutes as well. A safety spot will be wide open, 2 safety spots if guys catch on fast. The new guys will get to play if they catch on fast, if not, they won't. If they are playing it will enable the defense to play very very aggressive due to the depth at hand. If someone beats White out at corner.... Well.... Holy shite!
Young guys will have to play for us to be aggressive with our scheme.

Penrod has an unhealthy love for Mills.

2. Mills is gone after playing CB next year. He is a prototype for an NFL CB.

Yeah except for the whole man coverage skills and speed things. Dude would be better off at safety, he could be another B Taylor or Ryan Clark type.

Good Post alot of thought on this. The youngsters in the secondary did get alot of experience and playing time last year. The 1 point I took out of your post is that we are loaded and should have an absolute beast of a secondary and we're young.
It certainly would be a good thing if White was the the nickel CB. He is real good and can tackle. So anyone taking that job will be incredibly good for a freshman.

I don't see Paris over taking white. I actually think Mills might be odd man out by the time we hit Auburn. But then again, they may redshirt Paris.

If anything, they'll do what they did with TM7 and start White or Robinson on the outside and when they go into nickel, slide them over the slot receiver and use them in blitz packages.

When they go into Dime is when it'll get really interesting in blitz packages

How about this.....

Robinson & White at the corners when there are 4 DBs in the game. Fifth man in is Paris and he goes to corner while White takes on the "honey bager" role causing havoc from any number of spots on the field.

Just a thought..

The only realistic way I can think of is to move Tre White to the nickle position. White can be a lock down corner most of the time, but his height (5-11) and weight (177) limit his effectiveness against tall, strong, athletic WRs in the deep route

Why did we even recruit Adoree Jackson with this thinking? Tyrann Mathieu says hello

Why does Paris get the nod over Thomas or Mills or even Collins? Or even Voohies?

Just someone jumping the gun because these youngsters comin in are top recruits. It's a big difference between doing what you did in HS to doing the same in college. Both White and Robinson did outstanding jobs as true freshman with being undersized and all. And when I say undersized I mean weight wise. White outweighed Robinson. I believe 170 to 160 or someting like that. I expect both to be pumped up and much more physical this upcomin season. Tell you the truth though I was more impressed Robinson. He virtually shut down the top SEC receiver in Evans.

I could not understand what the hell Chavis was doing. He would play Robinson then start Mills back at corner the next game. WTF!

Agreed. ...and honestly, I think both of them are capable of being All-Americans.

May have something to do with.....

The SEC is a torture chamber. You know that kid isn't where he needs to be weight/strength wise.

How pissed were you when you were a kid when you JUST got a new toy......and break it the first couple of days you had it?

Yes, I was really pissed at breakin my rock'em sock'em robots. But you have a point about Robinson probably not being able to handle the physicality of the SEC week to week.

Couple of reasons.....

Voorhies is a safety, not a cornerback. Mills will likely stay at safety. Collins lost his starting job to a true freshman so I'm thinking the coaches don't have a lot of confidence there. Thomas is a possibility but I think Paris is a better athlete and with the benefit of being on campus for spring football he'll move into the mix.
