I think his struggles have been amplified by some bad luck. He's hit the ball hard several times, just right at people.
I was just trying to get opinions on the confidence aspect. I can see that going both ways. Either he uses getting dropped as fuel or it messes with his head.

At a minimum, I'd probably take the bat out of his hands for the 1st pitch of every at bat. I'd rather him bunt every time he's up regardless of situation z rather than watch him swing at first pitches anymore.

I'm sorry but Coomes will not DH
CPM will not force himself into the position of having to kill the DH if Coomes is needed to play 1st base for whatever reason
same goes for Slaughter if Coomes is entered into the starting line-up at 1B
