After CPM's national title, there was a slow downward trend that accelerated his last 4/5 years. I think a better evaluation of an SEC coach is using SEC numbers. JMO.

I can assure you those guys are taking more balls than they did the previous year and practiced that much harder.

You can assure me that these guys are practicing harder than last year?

You know Hal Hughes wasn’t on the team last year either right?

Uh yeah?

What you’re saying is they don’t take ground balls at practice or practice different situations from different positions on the field? You’re a fricking dummy if you don’t think this happens. I can in fact that not only does it happen on game day it happens EVERY DAY at practice and several have stated including Thompson on how many balls they are going out and taking on their own. It is mental. YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE shite STIRRER. We have all seen your moronic posts. My guess is you’re an alter for Russian.

I never once said anything like this.

I don’t even know why you are arguing with me. I pointed out that Mainieri isn’t the reason we leave a lot of runners on base and you started rambling about a bunch of other shite.

Definitely true. Should've fired his arse after the 2017 CWS finals lol

Seriously, define "wayyyyyyy". Couple years too long tops. 2020 was covid year, he got released the next year

I was saying to can him after the 2014 disaster with losing at home in the regionals to Houston after being in the winners bracket but people said I was nuts.

I wasn't ready to can him just yet, but after that 2014 debacle was pretty much when he lost me too.

That is a sore spot with me to this day. We had given up 1 run to UH through 16 innings and were up 4-0 to start the 8th and we lose the regional.

Kyle Bouman was cruising thru 6 innings, only having thrown 69 pitches, when Paul got cute and yanked him for Kurt McCune, who couldn't get his own grandmother out. It made no sense whatsoever.

We lost that game in extras, and I can remember going to work the next morning in a funk. I was dreading going back out to The Box that night, because I knew it was going to be an exercise in futility. And sure enough, Houston pretty much put us out of misery early.

What in the world has he to do with the current situation???

It is always the same - obsessive blame on the past coach while giving the current coach a free pass OR demands to immediately fire the new coach every time LSU loses a game.

There is not much in between.

Kinda odd how some sport disappointments stay with us longer than others. The loss to UH in the regional has bothered me ever since.

We should've been hosting Texas in a Super with NOLA pitching G1.

Just frustrating.

Remember that we were a national seed 6 straight years ('12 - '17). We were in Omaha in '13 and again in '15. That's a lot of high level consistency to fire a coach in.
