Aranda will be here one more year. Then it is head coach or NFL. His biggest concern will,be what age his children are. Orgeron is doing very well and has us on the right path. We have Arandas replacement on the staff. Bush is the defensive coordinator in waiting.

You need to be a top knotch recruiter to make a great dynasty. He seems like a great x and o's guy behind the scenes but not much of a people person to be a great recruiter imo. So no probably not.

I never was married to the idea that LSU needed to hire a proven winner. History has proven that at any given time there are coordinators out there that will prove to be great HCs in the future. They just need to be given their shot.

None of that means I wanted to hire someone with bad experience. I'd rather no experience if we're talking about hiring a bright coordinator for the job over bad experience.

There are 3 tiers of possible coaching candidates.
1. Proven winners as HC.
2. Proven winners as coordinators
3. Proven losers as HC

Which one do you think is the worst choice?

Too late. The dynasty will be established by Orgeron before Aranda takes the reins.

but giving someone a "shot" isn't what the anti O guys were saying...a proven winner was what they wanted

Oh how different these responses would have been if you started this thread exactly one week ago.

Impossible to know. Not every great coordinator has turned into a great head coach

A great D Coordinator does not always = a great head coach. Just ask Muschamp.

Not if it's about money. He currently makes more money than most NFL defensive coordinators.

A&M was ready to throw the bank at him last year. Other desperate schools will too.

If LSU becomes a dynasty, I would give a RAT's arse who the coach is or who gets the credit

Curious, how much does the DC make in the NFL? Tried looking it up but the figures that I saw must not be right with what he’s being paid.

Our next head coach will be one with a proven record of success as a head coach.

I think this is a very shortsighted approach.

Kirby had zero experience before he took over UGA.

Jimbo had no experience when he took over Florida State.

And many coaches who have been successil at their first job at a small school were disasters when they got to the “big leagues”

But Aranda seems to have the personality traits and attention to detail the suggest he would be successful

And if we are being honest, given Os history as a head coach, Aranda pribably would have been a less risky pick for LSU than Ed was.

You should be smart enough to see the difference but obviously you are not.

While Aranda has never been a HC, O was previously a historic level disaster.

There’s a big difference between loose and lose. In any event, hating to lose is not much of a recommendation. I’m fairly sure every coach hates to lose.

A great coach can sell people on his vision and manage a lot of processes at the same time. He’s a motivator and an administrator. Being good at X’s and O’s, which we know Aranda has mastered, has little to do with it.
