The point clearly went over your head. I'm not talking about his height. We all know Green is huge and tall which means everyone goes for his legs. He's limited in what he can do but he can definitely do more to protect himself to mitigate it as best as possible. I hold breath each time he catches it because I know he's going to run through 3-4 guys hanging on to him inviting someone to take his knees out. I love his toughness.

The Rant thinks knee pads are for their boyfriends
Today's players clearly don't like the bulky pads of past years. Most skill players in both college and the NFL don't wear pads covering their knees. You've also seen the shoulder pads become slimmer and smaller compared to the bulky pads of decades prior.
Everyone is trying paint this as some egregious play designed to intentionally hurt Green. It wasn't. It was simply a matter of a DB who some 6 inches shorter and several pounds lighter trying to tackle a much bigger, taller man. There is no incentive for a defender to go high on Green. (1) It likely won't be effective because Green is so much bigger and (2) hits to the head, even inadvertent, are called as penalties today. That leaves a DB with a split second choice to try to bring down a bigger player. Going low is not some new phenomenon. And when you are 6'7 250 you just have to know defenders are going to try to tackle you low and do the best you can to protect yourself.

Yeah...scum trashy players
When you do a good wrap up tackle, you pin the knees together to guarantee a player going down. That's just form tackling. You have to be ridiculously strong to try wrapping up at the quads.

I don’t think it was egregious either the only thing that bugs me is Wilson quit blocking his man and maybe if Green is one on one instead of in a pile he makes a cut instead of bowling over the safety.

realized a while back no skilled players wear knee pads anymore. What’s up with that?
Shaves off a little speed for one.

Watch the Tyran Mathieu podcast. He discusses the Trey dez Green situation and how Green needs to play football going forward and learning how to take hits and protecting himself better. He said guys like him with size have to understand where most guys will try and tackle them. He used how Gronk from the patroits as an example. I thought it was very informative coming from a player's prospective.

definitely not the shite we wore. thick thigh pads, hip, tail bone. bulky shoulder pads. our knee pads were not that bad tho.

many do but they are paper thin. or pulled up over the knee so it gives no protection anyway
