Just heard this at 5 oclock in Houston. You gotta be kiddin me. This is the best LSU can come up with after all this time looking for a coach. Bottom of the barrel hire if you ask me. What happened to Bennett and Ford?

Looks like Colis and the rest of the "Element" ramrodded a "Black" coach through after all. It appears that this was the major pre-requisite all along.

If this goes down, it's not a good start for Alleva.

All welcome to "The Ostrich" to LSU......

what a suprise, one of the most racist posters doesn't like the hire

I'm not about to read this entire thread, but is this a good hire or what?

Say what yall want. This hire is NOT going to excite the fan base. This guy better win and win big immediately or the PMAC is going to be even emptier the next few years than it has been the last few years under Brady. If Johnson doesn't work out, you can kiss Alleva goodbye as well.....

From talking to a few people today this is not going to energize the fan base like a Anthony Grant hiring would. But anybody not named Brady at the helm is a good thing for LSU basketball

people just know Grant's name... its not like they know he's a better or worse coach.

if at the beginning of this coaching search you would have told me LSU was going to get a guy with Johnson's resume I'm not sure I would have believed it. Great hire

I think this is a bad hire. Brady got fired for not putting people in the seats. This hire will not put me in the seats. He has coached and lived entirely out west with no southern ties. We could have had Butch or JJ for a lot less and with as least as much excitment.

so you won't go when he starts winning games?

There is more to building a program than just winning games. He got thrown out of the a NCAA tournament just this year. Temper, Temper, Temper.

LSU really did sign him, then the whole state down there should be cheering.

I can attest to the fact that all of us who played under Trent (when he was a Stanford Assistant Coach) are mourning if he's really gone, but at the same time we are happy for him. I am happy for Trent and his family. This man deserves the very best because he is a first class individual and one of the best basketball minds in the business. In the same way that there is a business side to the NBA, there is a business side to being a college coach. I wish somehow we could have kept Trent at Stanford, but it looks like he's taken another great opportunity. I think what LSU fans and players can expect is a man who combines a disciplinarian approach with someone you can talk to as a mentor and role model figure. Another few words come to mind about Trent: work ethic, intensity and fire.

LSU should probably have taken him hostage and forced him to accept the job or we would kill his family
