Kind of like having a sanction-decimated roster and winning the SEC.

No, more of like building a program at Nevada and after 2 losing season, you coach them to three winning seasons culminating in a Sweet 16. Then move to Stanford where you coach 4 straight winning seasons, make the NCAA 3 of 4 seasons and culminate in a Sweet 16 appearance.

Whereas, John Brady coached Samford to a losing season his first year, never got them into the postseason at any time. Then when fired from LSU had led them to back to back losing seasons.

John Brady started a loser and ended a loser.

I hope you are correct.
It that is your measuring stick he must get to the final eight in two years and get to the semis in about eight. Still convinced?

Let's hope his first move is to find a POINT GUARD! Welcome to LSU Mr. Johnson!

LSU had a winning season in 2006-2007.

I'm only calling that a winning season since you call "16-14" a winning season in Johnson's favor.

We lost in the Sweet 16 in 00, not the Elite 8. Lost BAD. To a big underdog in Wisconsin.

Brady/Pierre in the last 5 years
Overall winning %: .590
NCAA Tourney: 4-3, one Final Four appearance
One SEC title

Johnson at Stanford
Overall winnint %: .625
NCAA Tourney: 2-3, one Sweet 16
No Pac-10 titles

Brady's last five years, collectively, were, arguably, better than Johnson's four at Stanford.

You are correct. I was considering leading a team to 6th place in a 6 team division in back to back seasons as a losing record.

You need to factor in the re-emergence of UCLA, the run Washington made for two years when Brandon Roy was there, Arizona being a consistent power (obviously not this year), as well as WSU and ASU getting better under Bennett and Sendek. The Pac-10 is a very good basketball conference and has improved in the four years since Johnson got there. I see all winning records, improvement, and three NCAA births. Looks pretty good to me.

Damn, that sounds as bad as draconian sanctions. Interesting that the excuses have already started. I can't wait until next season. ;)

Record only had a small part to play in why Brady is no longer here.
He's gone because he was a prick. He alienated the fanbase as well as the former players. Generally he was a poor representation of what LSU BBall should be.
Some coaches like Knight can be a prick and get by. Brady didn't have the resume to do that. So once the record started being mediocre at best, it was time to cut bait.

Nobody knows how TJ will do. But, he looks to be a solid hire. One thing also is that LSU is in pretty good shape next year. There is alot of experience coming back and "hopefully" a good recruiting class coming in.

That's a better representation of John Brady's coaching mediocrity.

Wasn't Swift's Sweet 16 team in 1999-2000 Brady's third team ?

Hey, we all know that the proof will be in the puddin'. I think the Johnson years will be generally good, and there will be plenty of reasons to celebrate LSU Basketball.

Unfortunately, our fans will consist of the following:

5% other

Virtually every coach in the world is a prick. Why did it make Brady so special to be one?

This looks like the post Nolan Richardson hire. Hire some one safe and politically correct. If it does not work out we can hope for a better coach in 4-5 years

Please Trent prove me wrong!

It didn't, it simply got him fired.
You simply can't bite the hand that feeds you. Brady created NO excitement with LSU BBall. Even when we were winning, we weren't selling out. Some will blame the fans. I don't, I blame the coach. He never ever sold the program and was basically a Dick towards the fans.
Like I said, you get away with that when the seats are filled and the team wins. But, when the building's 1/2 empty and you start to lose. You find yourself taking the Ark St job.

Ford turned us down, per Shreveport Times today.
