Gonna make the trip to Ole Miss. Never been and looking for some recommendations places to stay, casinos, golf, hangouts, etc. Any advice would be much appreciated.

My advice is don't do it. Mississippi State was bad enough for me and Ole Miss fans are way worse. It is always fun when your team is worth a shite, but that is not the case this year. If you can handle all of the shite talk when you know it is true, then more power to ya. Pour your beer in a cup or drink the hard stuff, because it is a dry county.

In his defense, I think it used to be a "dry campus" until like 10 years ago.

Don't go, trust me. They are insufferable when we beat the shite out them, I could not imagine being there if they beat us. Oh and no music, no cooking, and beer in a cup.

Advice-
Wear sunglasses, bring some food with you, try not to puke from all the douchiness around you.

I made the trip in 03 and 05. Police forced my crew to pour out our beer, and stated that it was a dry county. Didn't know that it changed, so that is definitely an improvement.

first off, if you're really lucky you might get a hotel room in Batesville or Grenada...

that being said, Tunica or Memphis are your best options...

Props to you for going sir

I stayed in Tupelo. Not a lot of hotels around there. Just go North of Jackson and plan on a lot of gameday driving back to the room.

Well I was in college at Ole Miss then. It was not a dry county.

So either you're lying or the cops were lying. Do you know what dry county means?

They have weird alcohol rules on campus. You just have to keep the beer in a cooler (with a cheap, fake lock installed on it) and not on a table. Much more relaxed on liquor. Its a gameday thing to reduce binge drinking for underage kids, which doesn't work.

FWIW, they have Sunday alcohol and cold beer now, which they did not have when I was there.

Probably too late to score a place in Oxford. It's a big hassle and not worth going back, but it's cool to check out once.

Obviously, check out The Grove. Check out Taylor Grocery on Friday and the downtown square (City Grocery, Ajax, The Square book store, and Proud Larry's).
