Saw a few posts regarding DE toughness last night and all I could do is shake my head.

Danny is a soldier and he won't/can't be stopped!

Love his toughness, his teammates have got to love him for it.

This is largely a myth

bullshite. He wanted to go back to Harris in the first game that Etling played. Should I also remind you of the Lee/Jefferson debacle?

Let's be real, it takes courage to call for the snap in any SEC game. I have thought for years that it may be the toughest position in all of sports. You have D-lines loaded with future NFL stars going against future businessmen on the O-line. Those guys deliver pain in every game

Can you honestly recall a tougher LSU QB in memory?

Rohan Davey

I don't remember who we were playing, but I remember Rohan had injured his ankle and was hobbling badly between each play. If I remember correctly, he led us to victory in that game too.

Dude took a hit in the '86 Kentucky game that caused him to almost bite his own tongue off. Took some stitches (in his tongue) at halftime, trotted back out there in the second half and finished the game.

I had no idea how big a deal that was until I had to have my tongue stitched up. IIRC, Hodson took like 9 stitches and plyed the rest of the game.

I had only 3 but my tongue was swollen to about 50% more than normal size and hurt like a mofo.

Hodson, Rohan and Herb Tyler were tough as nails, just like Etling.

Danny Etling doesn't want to give the starting job back to Brandon Harris.

It makes me wonder what sort of LSU teams we could have seen over the Miles years without his failure of understanding the QB position. Year in and year out we arguably the most talented teams (i.e. NFL rosters) and Les has not done it. Instead he gave the power to Nick.

He is tough as nails. It makes everybody on the offense play harder when they see that. I think that is the reason that we have seen some improvement on the o-line every week since he has been starting. You want to know who you are going to war with. I think they all know now that Danny is ready to go to war and they have a helluva war coming on Nov 5. I'm ready!

He really is tough. I wish he would of protecting himself more i.e. sliding, going out of bounds etc.

Proved he's a real Tiger not transfer!

The best part about Daniel Quantavious Beauregard Etling VI is: One More Year

With a Spring, Summer and Fall Camp to "Improve" and work with the WR's.

So, who's going to be the back-up and who transfers or changes positions? (Harris, McMilan or Scott)

If you can't efficiently throw the football, you aint playin for O.

(Brennan comes in too)

You're a dumb arse if you think either will play another position. Scott tore up tiger bowl yesterday. Mcmillan looked good. BH is a QB like it or not. Hopefully BH transfers to a system that fits him. Brennan and Narcisse will redshirt.

Yes, and I'm glad he's tough.

However, he needs to be a lot smarter about taking unnecessary punishment.

Tommy Hodson bit through his tongue as a freshman against Kentucky. Etling kind of reminds me of Hodson.
