The schedule that the 2011 team went through was the stuff of legends.

Beat the Pac 12 champ (#3 Oregon), Big East champ (WVU), #1 Alabama, #3 Arkansas among 4 other teams that were ranked.

And other than Bama, they dominated all of them.

That was the most impressive regular season I've ever seen.

2011 was maybe one of the best Cfb of all time.

If Oklahoma St beats Texas Tech in 2011, this thread never gets created. No wait, this is the Rant...it would most definitely get created anyway

To quote you “2011 was like nothing we’ve ever seen through 7 games.”

We have seen 7-0 starts before so I assume you meant the defense which was closer to historic but again we had seen before. Either way a 7-0 start or the defensive performance wasn’t unprecedented.

2011 had more NFL talent but this team has the best QB in LSU history and an offensive scheme that showcases him. This team is more like the Patriots with Brady. 2011 was more like the Ravens with Trent Dilfer for a QB. I’ll take this squad.

Close. Definitely better at the most important position! This #9 is way better than the 2011 version.

But Jefferson did beat Bama.

I want to say this— let’s not compare them, please. They are completely different teams.

2011 LSU was legendary until “the rematch”. They physically dominated everyone, minus Bama.

This year’s team is special, there’s no doubt. This team, and everyone will say this, can beat Alabama, win the conference and get in the playoffs.

Or, this team could lose a shootout to Bama, and need help getting in the playoffs.

Regardless, we’re in a great spot right now. Let’s enjoy it.

Next season will be different.

the 2011 defense played 2 teams that resembled modern read option/rpo type offenses. lsu gave up 27 and 21. the tigers gave up a boatload of yards to wvu

i think people are looking at the final scores and forgetting that in the first 7 games, 2011 lsu was in close games late. the 2019 team is dominating from start to finish, even the state game. lsu was moving the ball well. state did a good job of keeping lsu out of the ez for a short while but, that didn't last long.

2019 wr vs 2011 dbacks - wow. what a matchup.

When Jefferson returned to the starting role, the offense itself was very limited.

This is a false narrative you made up in your head, JJ added the running dimension, lee did not possess.

The offense lived off the other teams mistakes generated by a super defense all year. Bama didn’t make mistakes in the NCG....

2011 defense was better than 2019 d....

if we had that 2011 defense with tm7 and this offense 2019....be the greatest lsu team

No sir! 2011 7-0 seemed most legit.

Yes on defense. Our 2011 offense wasn’t even close to what we have now. We relied pretty much solely on the running game . What was Jefferson averaging 115 yds a game? I think this years team is light years better just based on the offense. They have shown that they can run it and pass it. Teams can no longer put 9 men in the box and dare us to pass. This years team is too explosive

if you want to say this offense is light years better, that's fine, but overall no. This is just recency bias and the lingering disappoint from the BCS CG.

The 2011 running game was elite, the passing game was awful, which is a shame considering the talent at the WR postion. But they scored and would score on the 2019 defense.

Defense wins championships right?

Did our elite defense in 2011 win us a championship?

Sorry, but until this team turns its swag up so high that's its changing "whip a bitch" in the tunnel on the road, 2011 will always be the winner
