Florida '97 hands down. From the moment the "Work 'Em Silly Gators" sign got destroyed, the student section never sat back down. (which was at least 1/2 hour before kickoff)
What is your recollection of that event? Any specifics?
This was so great. These dumbass Gator fans came right up next to the student section waving that sign. It was HUGE. It covered up almost the entire section of seats below the walkway and between the stairs. The student section was booing and a student ran over and snatched it was running around while the Gator fans chased him. He ran into the student section and they let him almost like a gate and literally bowed up to the Gator fans not letting them pass.
Seconds later you see paper flying in the air. It looked like a pack of tigers destroying something and flinging it everywhere. So, the Gator fans go over to Troopers and you can see all of this unfolding because there were hardly anyone but students there yet. The Troopers just looked at the Gator fans, shrugged his shoulders and pointed as if to say "go find your seat". The student section erupted and started chanting "Tiger bait!"
Those guys must have spent weeks, if not months making that sign. It was gigantic, heavy detail. I mean, it was gorgeous and it was ripped to shreds in a matter of seconds.
The whole scene was like a cartoon. Imagine Butch and Sylvester chasing Tweety Bird or Tom chasing Jerry and then Tweety or Jerry reaching safety, then, a bunch of shite starts flying all over the place like a tornado and you get the picture.

Thank you for the excellent, vivid description. I can see it in my mind's eye... almost as if I was a participant!

Florida '97
I was sitting in the student section. It was huge back then. We had just wrapped up the Hallman era and wins like that were unheard of. One of the best nights of my life. That place went ape shite.

97 for me as well but the following week Ole Miss came to Tiger Stadium and layed the smackdown on LSU in an early game .

Ole Miss 2014 had a pretty cool ending even though that season didn't lead to anything. I'll always remember Trey Quinn crowd surfing after the game.

My first LSU game was in 1966. Didn't go to many usuall one maybe two a year. My uncle had several season tickets back in the day. Mostly against A&M since all my uncles went there first before ending up at LSU after the war. Several Ole Miss games stand out. The Bert Jones fake that nobody, I mean nobody caught until he waltzed in holding the football high in the air. It was a fake to rb which was snuffed and it seemed like everybody saw Bert at the same time and the noise was deafening. Was at the 79 USC game and it was electric from start to finish. Even in loss was the top game I have ever been too. My daughters first game was 97 Florida. She was working for my wife and I and her best friend then at LSU got her a ticket. When she came home it was like she had seen Jesus.

The 97 game was like a dream you couldnt believe it was happening
We were so awful in the 90s and Florida was phenomenal and the legend and myth that is death valley at night came to life.
The 03 uga game I watched on Armed forces network in Baghdad on camp slayer with a ton of Georgia fans. You could hear how loud it was from the TV which was impressive but after the devery return it went nuts.
But the greatest game was the SEC championship vs UT

I wasn't there for Florida 97, but I'd say that game. As for the games I was at, IGA '03 was amazing, followed closely by Florida '07. That catch by Devery just out edges those 4th and 1s by Hester.
OT against Tenn and MSU in 2000 were pretty great too. That's when it was fun to just win games.

2008 Alabama is highly underrated in terms of crowd noise. I've never heard a louder stadium than when LSU blocked the field goal to send game to OT
I received a plethora of vodka and coke on my head from multiple angles at that moment. And I was very okay with it. (If only it ended as well.)

Re OP, I'm hoping for a magical game this year that'll have to be added to your conversation.
Geaux Tigers.

1997 was a great game but I wasn't nervous.... 2003 UGA was great and I was like oh shot they scored. But I had a feeling we were the bettter team and it worked out....
BUT the 2007 FLA game had everything you could ask for in a college football game.... tense moments, come from behind moments, against one of the best players in college football history, and the gutsiest coaching job I have ever seen..... the last drive is in the top 5 of all time in LSU football lore..... Hester became a LSU legend that night, and IMO the game (at that point) mattered more than the other two......

Those were all great games. IMO nothing was like the Auburn '88 or USC '79. I actually left to go o the bathroom on the way out when Hodson connected with Fuller. Smh.

That was a 4th down do or die play man! SMDH

Close one but to me, who was present at this game, it has to be Florida 07 primarily bc of the implications and how the game transpired: defending national champs with the future Heisman winner, 4-1 vs 5-0 team in Tiger Stadium, USC losing to Stanford that night to propel us to no. 1 in America, and all the clutch 4th down conversions with Hester and the O-Line resembling the early 70s smashmouth Miami Dolphins to achieve the win. It was simply monumental and transcendent, arguably the biggest game I've ever attended in that stadium bar none.
Great post and I agree.
But you actually missed one detail. We were already #1 in the AP poll that week. USC, who stayed #1 in the coaches poll, had been struggling while we were playing great, so the AP jumped us over them the week before, as they should have.
So their loss meant we would be the unanimous #1 team with a win.
That was actually one of the reasons I found that game even more amazing. It was the first time in my lifetime we had ever taken the field as the #1 team in the country, against the defending national champions and the best player in college football who were also ranked in the top 10, Gameday on campus, in a night game in Tiger Stadium.
I mean, it just doesn't get any better than that.
And for the game to play out as an instant classic with a finish the way it did, I really just don't know how anyone could put anything else above it.

Well, without Devery's kick return (and an obvious missed holding call) the Mauck to Green play may not have happened.
Funny, I never hear any LSU fans complaining about that missed holding call.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but don't dismiss the release of suffering that LSU fans were FINALLY able to let go in that '97 game. LSU had been the punchline to bad jokes for so long, it was euphoric to get that kind of win for us fans.

Yeah man I was just messing with you.
I mentioned the Devery kick return in the thread earlier. Great game all around
