Of course SBU players are going to be complimentary after that display....but who cares? Was this the confirmation Boxites needed to know they're good fans?

So which Tigers are going to basically be called wrong. You have current players, who were actually on the field when it happened, that aren't bothered by it and actually complimented the gesture....without being asked to.

Then you have Mascona's unnamed former players who he claims didn't like it.

Who is wrong? Current Tigers of former Tigers?

I don't give a frick about their season. Why should I congratulate them on it? I'm not one of those fans that cares about being looked at as 'the best fans in the country'.

maybe Katz actually did like it and wasn't saying that for PR purposes, but I can't imagine any competitor liking his fans high fiving and hooting it up with the opposing team.

I don't doubt some former players found it to be pretty silly.

Maybe the moon is made of swiss cheese.

Maybe the sky is falling.

Maybe it's okay to be a good sport when you lose.

this wasn't a show of "good sportsmanship" will some of you people quit acting like "ohhhh so what I'm supposed to boo them and throw piss bags at them HUH?!?!?!" There is a middle ground, its not one or the other.

The ovation given to them in the 9th was more than enough to satisfy your need to be a "good sport" The hugging and high fives was over the top and lame.

I don't see how congratulating Stony Brook AFTER THE GAME IS OVER in any way surrenders home field advantage. You cheer like mad for LSU during the game, and once they finished pulling a huge upset by honestly outplaying us, you give them their due. I don't see how this is a big deal at all.

Stony Brook is the first team to ever beat LSU in a Super Regional in the Box. They honestly won in every way a team can win a series - it was a pretty dominant win. Giving them a standing O and a victory lap is an acknowledgment that they accomplished something special and that we're confident enough in our standing in the baseball heirarchy to know we'll be back.

I don't see the big deal. If the Russians can tap their sticks on the ice to applaud the Americans in 1980, our fans can give an ovation to Stony Brook.

Then don't do it, but people having hissy fits like a bunch of spoiled belles IS over the top. It's just not worthy of that.

I don't think was a huge upset.

and yes a sign of respect is one thing. But do you think Russian fans would have been hugging, high fiving, and hounding the Americans for autographs? It was lame and came off as people trying to fabricate this Box memory so one day we can tell this story about how great of fans we are

30 minutes after the game? Sure. I did it to the Red Wings when they lifted the Cup in the Capitals' building. I was ticked the Caps lost, but I was happy to see the Cup and I stayed to applaud their effort and see the trophy presentation. And, yeah, I tried to get Yzerman's autograph because... well, he's kind of awesome.

I honestly don't see the big deal. And a four seed making it to Omaha is a huge upset.

Regardless, you have to admit that any of us arguing about this 24 hours later is pretty ridiculous.

During the game the game our crowd did everything they were supposed to do for the Tigers. Plenty of cheering and after the series was over they gave an outstanding club their due. I don't see a problem with it.

Our fans were convincing SB that we have the best program in college baseball and hoping this would reel in some talent from their area. It's called planting seeds.

Well said. Although I get the feeling the a-hole fans just can't or won't see it this way. We have some great fans...we also have some ignorant pricks as fans.

This.

We have some of the stupidest fans in the world. Unfortunately, the bulk of them post their stupidity here for the world to see, so other fans get this rep as well.

Damn shame.

What have a I learned today from the rant?

Any fan that shows class/sportsmanship is doing so only for selfish reasons. Not only that, other LSU fans know this is a fact, even though classy fan never stated their motive.

I really hate a portion of our fan base sometimes.

Motherfrickin' this!

Someone please tell me why in order to be a "great fan" I have to act like a jackass to the opposing team and their fans?

Play hard until the whistle blows, give your opponent all you've got, make them wish they never have to play you again .... BUT .... when it's over, it's over. Shake hands, congratulate them, and show some respect ... especially after they just beat your arse in every way possible.
