That is such a flawed way to hire a coordinator based strictly off of team rankings.

I do think House is better than he was this year. I don't think he needs elite talent to be successful, but he had bad position coaches, basically no DL coach and he had a lot of youth. I don't think he is a good enough coordinator to coach around those issues.

I disagree. I think he's actually worse because he has never shown the ability to consistently field good defenses in his entire career. He had 1 great defense (UK) before bolting for the NFL and a demotion to 2nd LBer coach. His 2nd best year was last year at LSU, and once he lost developed talent, his team went to shite.

He made almost no adjustments all season, and tried nothing to fix things in almost all cases. That is entirely on him and has nothing to do with his position coaches.

You even had Kelly supposedly taking over in the A&M game when things changed in the middle of the second half. That should tell you that it was doable and House either refused or had no idea how to.

By the way, his best year was not as a true, independent DC. Stoops was the DC in reality. This is House's first real job as a DC without a mentor on that side of the ball holding his hand, and this is what you get once the experienced talent left.

That is on House.

Coach Hire Analyst

Have any of you watched this video? I thought it was interesting and could at least help identify coaches prior to hiring them. There’s tons of research to look at and base your hire from. I think it would be worth a look if LSU got in touch with this guy. Tulane seems to be benefiting.

He's worse than he was this year? So this year was an up year for him?

I do think House is better than he was this year
for context. This means that he had a bad year but this isn't his normal level of coaching. It doesn't say anything beyond that.

I get what your saying, but BK is a defensive coach.

That is on House.

This season's poor defensive performance is mostly on house, not entirely. He didn't have a DL coach and the DB coach leaves a lot to be desired. I do not think LSU can afford to keep him around if LSU is to take the next step.

BUt to say the whole defensive performance is entirely on one person is immature and short sighted.

I think he’s an average coach and will give you exactly what you put in, and he’s a below average recruiter.

so what are we putting in?
